Receipt Types (Receiving Transactions)

There are 5 types of receipts in Oracle Purchasing: blind, express, cascade, unordered, and PO receipt. A blind receipt allows exact receipt of supplier shipments without seeing order quantities. An express receipt is a quick way to enter receipts by selecting all lines. A cascade receipt facilitates distributing quantities across multiple shipments. An unordered receipt is used to receive items when no PO exists yet. A PO receipt is the normal way to receive items against an existing purchase order.

Types of Receipts (Receiving Transactions)

There are 5 types of Receipts in oracle Purchasing.

1. Blind Receipt.
2. Express Receipt.
3. Cascade Receipt.
4. Unordered Receipt.
5. PO Receipt (Used Commonly).

Blind Receipt
Blind receiving helps you ensure that receivers record the exact amount they receive. With
blind receiving, we cannot see the quantity due or the quantity ordered for shipments when we
receive items. Purchasing ignores all quantity receipt tolerances to help ensure that you can
receive the exact amount the supplier shipped.
Prerequisite:
Express Receipt
The express function is a quick method of entering receipts and receiving transactions.
When Express button is selected in the Receipts window, Purchasing displays the Express
Details window in which you must enter the destination: Final Destination or Receiving location.
When OK button is selected, all lines are selected and the Express button changes to Unexpress.
When we select the Express button in the Receiving Transactions window, all lines are selected
and the Express button changes to Unexpress. In either case, we can select the unexpress
button to return to manual mode. Otherwise, we can deselect lines to omit them from express
processing and then save work to initiate express processing.
Cascade Receipt
The Cascade function facilitates the distribution of a given quantity of an item from a single
supplier across multiple shipments and distributions. This function is available in the Receipts
window if you have specified or inferred a source and an item in the Find Expected Receipts
window.
Unordered Receipt
You can receive items from a supplier when there is no corresponding purchase order but want to
receive the items so it can be tracked them on the system while you wait for a buyer to decide which
purchase order to use.

First receive the items as Unordered Receipts in the Receipts window. You can create a new receipt or
add to an existing receipt for the supplier who shipped the unordered items. Then perform a standard
receipt for the unordered item shipment quantity
Enter Qty, UOM, Item, and Location & save the record.(Note down the Receipt no generated at
header )
Create PO as per required.

Enter the Receipt no in Match Unordered receipts tab as below.

Receipt item details will be displayed as below, Select the Purchase order no, Line and shipment
detail from LOV and save the record.

After saving, RTP will run in background.

Than do the inspection and delivery transaction either by PO /Receipt reference no and
complete the transaction.
PO Receipt
This the normal type of receiving transaction performed to receive material against existing
purchasing document.
Qty, UOM, item, Rev, Desc, Category will be defaulted from PO.
Since the receipt routing is Inspection required, first stage of ‘Destination type’ is ‘receiving’.
If Receipt Exception check box is ticked, the receipt line is added into the receipt exceptions
reports and can be tracked for any deviations.

PO details can be seen in Order Information tab.

Save the record, RTP will run automatically & wait till it gets completed.
Requiery the PO, in receiving transaction form and select line and click on Inspect.
Select the Line and click on ‘Inspect’.

Accept/Reject the items, based on business and scenarios.

Click on Ok, save the record and wait till RTP gets completed in normal.
Requiery the PO to do final receiving transaction.
1. First line is the Qty which is rejected in previous stage.
2. Second line is accepted Qty, since there are multiple destination types defined in PO
distributions, we can see the same split in receiving transaction form.
3. For Inventory Items, provide the Subinventory & Locator details.
4. For Expense items, provide the location details & save the record.

Once RTP is completed, check the material transaction from receiving transaction summary.
