Week 8 Blog

This weekly journal entry from the filmmaker documents their filming process over the past week. They filmed at multiple locations over four days, capturing footage that will be useful for editing their production. Some challenges were encountered, such as feeling unsafe in one location, but alternative locations were found. The filmmaker feels their locations were suitable and that they have captured what they needed, though some reshoots may be needed. They are now ready to begin the editing process.

Week Eight – Filming

FILMING

What practical work have you done This week I have filmed for four days, this includes Stratford,
this week - and how helpful was your Henley and Great Kingshill. My planning was helpful as allowed
earlier planning? me to fluidly work on what I wanted to film and where, also
being prepared and on time allowed me to shoot multiple takes
and have a lot more control of what I wanted to do.

How will this be useful to you as your This will be useful as it is the much-needed footage, I needed to
production process continues produce my production, also having lots of different takes allows
for me when editing to have choice of what looks best and what
will suit the scene the most. Also having everything filmed
already means my production will run smoother as its one less
thing to worry about as it is done.

Upload behind the scenes pictures

and videos and comment on what
they show

These are the behind the scenes photos from each location I
filmed at, the first photo is of Luke walking down the road, and
doing the walking down the road shot in Henley. The second
photo is at my house (Great Kingshill) where we filmed the
opening if results on the stairs. And the final location is in
Stratford London which is where some of the opening shots were
filmed.

What issues did you encounter whilst When filming one big problem I had was that when we went to
out filming and how did you film in Upton Park and immediately it did not feel, we felt this
overcome them? because I pulled out my camera and was starred at by
numerous people and we were not getting the most positive
feelings, so we decided for our safety and to maximise the good
of my production by going to a safer location, being Stratford as
it was local, knowing we would have more time to have more
takes and not be cautious of who’s watching and what’s going
on. I now know that for next time I need to focus a lot more
about knowing the area where I want to film and be a lot more
thorough, to save risks and travel times.

How suitable do you feel your I feel my locations were very much suitable for my filming as
locations were for your filming? having 4 different locations gave lots of different perspectives to
the music video, which I think helped how the storyline was
portrayed.

How have you made use of the This year I feel I have made technical skills and have developed
technical skills you have developed so them quite a lot this year especially in my editing I feel this is
far this year? because it is something I aim to perfect as with editing you can
make your footage seem 10x better, it also makes a production
a lot more professional with a few swift cuts and transitions really
transform scenes.

Having reviewed your footage, are Yes, I am happy with my footage as I feel I was able to capture
you happy with what you have everything I wanted, I feel a few reshoots may be needed due
captured and does anything need to some shots being unfocused, but this is not a massive
reshooting? problem as it is only ever so slightly out of focus.

Are you ready to edit? If not, how far Yes I am ready to edit as I have all of my footage.
behind are you?

What work do you need to complete N/a

outside of lessons to stay on track?
