Emergency Actions in Case of Station Blackout: A) Generator DC Seal Oil Pump Started

During a station blackout, several emergency actions must be taken to ensure the safe operation of running units. These include manually starting critical DC-powered equipment if they fail to start automatically, such as generator seal oil pumps. Two or more diesel generators must be started to power emergency MCCs and allow starting of important AC-driven equipment while stopping DC-driven counterparts. Proper barring and vacuum breaker operations are also essential after restoration of power.

EMERGENCY ACTIONS in case of STATION BLACKOUT

During station blackout following emergency equipments/activities to be ensured for all

running units and accordingly action to be taken.

1. If following DC Drive/system fails to start in auto, then start manually. Ensure,

a) GENERATOR DC SEAL OIL PUMP STARTED:
i. If DC SOP fails to start, then Open manual valve in order to ensure backup
from Bearing Lube Oil Supply & hydrogen pressure within the generator
must be reduced to 0.14 kg/cm2 to ensure sufficient differential pressure
between seal oil and the generator hydrogen.
ii. If Bearing lube oil supply also not available, then first, H2 gas pressure
should be reduced at 0.1 to 0.2kg/cm2 by opening the H2 gas exhaust valve
b) MAIN TURBINE DC EOP, DC JOP STARTED.
c) DC SCANNER AIR FAN STARTED.
d) TDBFP 1 & 2 DC EOP STARTED.
e) DC LIGHTING CAME INTO SERVICE.

2. ENSURE ALL RAPH AIR MOTOR STARTED.

3. ENSURE CHARGING OF EMRGENCY COOLING LINE OF BOILER CIRCULATING
PUMP(BCP) HEAT BARRIER FROM ECW O/H TANK.
4. ENSURE AT LEAST TWO DG SETS STARTED IN AUTO OTHERWISE, START DG SETS
MANUALLY.
5. ENSURE UNIT EMERGENCY MCC CHARGED FROM DG SUPPLY IN AUTO,
OTHERWISE CHARGE MANUALLY.
6. AFTER RESTORATION OF UNIT EMERGENCY MCC THROUGH DG SET,
A. START FOLLOWING AC DRIVES AND STOP CORRESPONDING DC DRIVES:
a) MAIN TURBINE MAIN OIL PUMP
b) MAIN TURBINE AC JOP
c) GENERATOR SEAL OIL PUMPS
d) AC SCANNER AIR FAN
e) TDBFP-1 & 2 AC LUBE OIL PUMPS
B. START FOLLOWING AC DRIVES:
a) ALL RAPH'S MAIN AC MOTOR & STOP CORRESPONDING AIR MOTORS.
b) GENERATOR SCCW PUMPS,
c) LUBE OIL PUMPS OF RAPH, FD & PA FAN
C. ENSURE ESP/ID FAN EMERGENCY MCC CHARGED:
a) START LUBE OIL PUMPS OF BOTH ID FANS.
7. ENSURE BARRING OF MAIN TURBINE AND TDBFP 1 & 2 TURBINE. IF TURNING
GEAR NOT COMES IN AUTO, ENSURE HAND BARRING.
8. ENSURE AUTO OPENING OF CONDENSER VACUUM BREAKERS, WHEN TURBINE
SPEED FALLS BELOW 400 RPM, ELSE OPEN THE SAME MANUALLY.
