Hormones of Placenta: Syncytiotrophoblast

The placenta produces several protein and steroid hormones through the syncytiotrophoblast. Protein hormones include human chorionic gonadotropin, human placental lactogen, pregnancy-specific beta-1 glycoprotein, early pregnancy factor, and growth factors. Steroid hormones include oestrogen, progesterone, and relaxin. The placenta is responsible for hormone production during pregnancy.
