My name is Mary Hecksel. I’m currently enrolled at Grand Valley State University majoring in
Clinical Exercise Science. I have 3 years customer service experience, as a waitress. I’m also
currently on the Grand Valley Track and Field team as a thrower. I have my Phlebotomy
Technician Certification, and I’m very interested in opening my track into the medical field as
I’m about to graduate in December and pursing a spot in an accelerated nursing program
nearby. I’m a very big people person, and an extremely fast learner. I believe all my
experience with customer service makes me stand out from others. I think the corporate
health and wellness area would help me in my broad experience and knowledge that I
already have in the fitness category. This would be a great opportunity for me, as I plan on
applying to accelerated nursing programs in the area and I’d be very excited to work with
and learn how to professionally help others.
Education
Experience
Olga’s Kitchen
Hostess | June 2014-September 2014
I was a hostess for my first job at Olga’s kitchen. My basic duties were greeting customers,
taking to-go orders over the phone, bathroom checks and restocking. I was really learning
the ropes and then the store got shut down.
Summit Ice Arena
Concessions | November 2014-April 2015
I worked concessions at the summit ice center in Dimondale, MI. My main duties were safely
handling food, counting money and giving back the correct change, washing dishes, and
other basic restocking duties. I left this company because the boss was extremely rude and
would verbally abuse the workers and I wanted to be in a happier environment.
Applebee’s
AdvisaCare
Home Health Aide | June 15th – Present
I got my first job in the health care department this summer, and I’ve really loved the different
atmospheres I’ve been able to work in. Going to people’s houses and learning the new
client’s routine, and the different surroundings really helped me open up to how many things
there are out there. I liked working with the different patients and making an actual
connection with them.
CSL Plasma
Phlebotomist | May 14th – Present
2
I currently work at CSL Plasma in Wyoming as a Phlebotomist. I work with many different
donors every day, so I have lots of interactions with people. It’s also helped me with medical
customer service which is much different than customer service in the food industry. It’s made
my passion for being a nurse much greater.
Dean’s List
I made the Dean’s List for the fall semester of my Sophomore year - 2016
