(Fixed Head Pile) : Pile Cap Bott GL

This document provides a summary of the design checks performed for the pile cap of the Rajnagar Bridge project under different load cases. It includes calculations of parameters like bending moment, deflection, and steel reinforcement for the fixed-head pile. The minimum and maximum live loads, and rare, normal, wind and quasi load combinations are considered. Under all cases, the percentage of steel provided is found to exceed the minimum requirement of 0.4% as per design standards.

TITLE: CHECK OF PILE CAP SLS CASE

12 Design of Working Pile SLS: (Fixed Head Pile)

Youngs Modulus E = (Refer Table ** of IRC:21) = 31622777 kN/m^2

Moment of Inertia I = p x 1.2 ^ 4 / 64 = 0.102 m^4
C/s area A = p x 1.2 ^2 / 4 = 1.131 m^2

Pile cap Bott GL

Exposed Length L1 = 74.700 - 74.500 = 0.20 m

Length of fixity: T = 4 EI As per Clause 5.5.2 of (Appendix C)

k2 IS:2911(PartI/Sec-2)-1979

(Loose to medium sand in submerged)

k2 = 4200.000 kg/cm^3

T = 5.26 m

For L1 / R = 0.04 ; Lf / T = 2.14

Lf = 2.14 x 5.26 = 11.26 m
So restricted Lf = 11.26 m
Equivalent length of cantilever L = L1 + Lf
= 0.20 + 11.26
Effective length L1 + Lf = 11.46 m

Least radius of gyration g min = I/A = 0.3 m

slenderness ratio = L / r min

= 11.5 / 0.3 = 38.200
< 50 (Short Column)

Reduction Factor for BM = 0.95

Allowable tilt of pile wrt cl at top = 1 in 150

= 11.46 / 150
e = 0 m

Bending Moment = Q (L1+LF)/2 x R.F

Deflection = Q (L1+LF)^3/12 E I

Permissible deflection = 0.01 cm (1% of pile diameter, As per clause 709.3.5.2 of IRC:78)

Ast provided in working piles = 25 4056.97 32 -2522.8 1012.32 = 275.21 mm^2

4057 -3177.47 1021.11 217.6007
Percentage of steel provided = 3963.66 -1639.55 3487.74 = 453.39 %
> 0.40 %
(Min. % of steel as per Cl.709.4.4 of IRC:78)
