Week 4 Blog

The document summarizes the student's planning for their weekly production project. It discusses how planning has helped the student understand what needs to be done and the order of tasks. The student encountered issues matching their storyboard and script but overcame it by ensuring both included shot details. The student ensured high quality storyboards by making drawings clear and descriptive. Location changes required altering scenes in the storyboard and script. The student has organized casting and will film with another student to help each other's projects. The student is on track to complete work within lessons and does not need extra work outside of class.

Week Four - Planning

PLANNING

What did you learn from your planning Planning has allowed me to understand what I need to do
this week? when creating my production in a clear way. It has meant that
I will know exactly what to do without having to worry about
what I’m going to do next. For example, creating a storyboard
will allow me to film quickly and efficiently as I will know exactly
what to film for each scene rather than making it up on the
spot. Creating a shooting script will allow me to edit quickly
and efficiently as I will know which clips should go with certain
parts of the song, helping me to save time as I won’t be making
it up as I go along.

What issues did you encounter and One issue that I encountered was trying to match the
how did you overcome them? storyboard and shooting script together. To overcome this, I
based the shooting loosely off of the storyboard but went into
more depth by writing what shot will happen in each line. This
means that I can follow both the storyboard and the shooting
script loosely as they both match each other fairy well.

How did you ensure that your To make sure that my storyboards were good I made each
storyboards were completed to a high drawing as clear as possible. I didn’t want to focus on the
standard? quality of the drawing but rather what it showed- I made sure
that it showed what shot and angle I should film in clearly, and
made sure that the text described clearly what is meant to
happen in each scene. This will allow me to film faster and will
make it easier for me as I will know exactly what to film for each
shot.

How has your planning After deciding what locations I was going to use, I had change
developed/changed during the some of the scenes in my story board and shooting script as I
planning stage? realised that certain parts wouldn’t work if there was a different
background setting.

How have you ensured your I made sure that my shooting script is good by writing a
script/shooting script is of a high different shot/direction for each lyric of the song. This means
detailed standard? that I have lots of descriptions on what to film and edit during
the creation stages of my production, making it much easier
and faster for me to work. I also made sure to include the
action, camera angle and location for each description so
that I know exactly what to film.

How well have you managed and I made sure to find an actor available to film straight away and
organised your cast and crew to be in who needs someone to act in theirs. This meant that we could
available when you need them? film on the same days for each other’s productions without
worrying about the other person cancelling because we both
needed each other. Choosing an early date to film also meant
that we had plenty of time to film any extra things on other
days if for some reason the other person couldn’t make it. For
my other actor, I made sure that the he was free on the same
day, but also asked other people to be backup actors just in
case they couldn’t make it.

Are you on track for the week? If not, I am on track.
