Q4: HOW DID YOU INTEGRATE TECHNOLOGIES –

SOFTWARE, HARDWARE AND ONLINE IN THIS PROJECT?

I used several forms of technologies in this project. They helped me in the making of this
project and well, without technology this project wouldn’t have been possible.
Firstly, the media lab in my school and my laptop at home enabled me to start. I had a
good internet connection which made a lot of things possible. A generator was also
present to help in times of electricity shortage. We also used our phones if for some reason
we couldn’t use other devices. We had a projector in the lab, which we used to learn about
new topics and review our work. Also shooting for the magazine wouldn’t have been
possible without a DSLR camera. There was also a class group with my classmates and
my two mentors. Announcements were made on the group as well as discussion of work
was done and also slides were posted to guide us in our work. I also have a group on
Whatsapp with my classmates where we help each other as a team.
I made my blog on Weebly to post about how I’m working on my magazine. It gives
updates about all the steps and a lot of research was required for which I took help of
Google and sites such as issuu and pdfmagazines. I looked into Sals Media Blog to find
old blogs which acted as a guide. I also used Surveymonkey to make my questionnaire for
market research which I sent through Whatsapp for people to fill it out.
I made presentations, to keep my blog interesting, with the help tools such as Powerpoint
but it got tedious and it first, had to be uploaded on Slideshare and then its link has to be
embedded on our blog, which was very time consuming. After a while I shifted to Emaze,
Google Slides and Prezi. I made use of Scribd to post Word documents and YouTube to
upload videos as they both can’t be directly posted to Weebly. To make the flowchart I
used Draw.io.
Lastly, I used Photoshop CS3 to put together my research and construct the magazine. It
was something I hadn’t used before and I had a really fun time using it as it was quite
interesting but difficult at first. However, it did get easier once I got familiarized with the
software.
I learned many new things from this project which will surely help me in the life ahead.
