Title
An investigation into the reasons why students prefer to purchase from FEI canteen rather than
outside vendors.
Objectives:
1. To determine the various products and quality of products supplied by FEI’s canteen and
other vendors.
2. To determine the cost price of products sold at FEI’s canteen and other vendors.
3. To investigate the reasons why students prefer to purchase from FEI’s canteen rather than
outside vendors.
Background Information
Every day students buy snacks and food products becoming the customers of local shops and their
school canteens. This topic is important to the researcher to apprehend or gather evidence of what
forces students to purchase from a canteen or outside vendors and the advantages of purchasing
from both places. This topic can have significant importance also in the well-being and safety of
student, also in gaining profits and customers’ loyalty. From my observation, it has been seen that
many students prefer to purchase items from the FEI canteen than the outside vendors shop. This
has been found to have a significant effect on both suppliers as their profits and supply vary
accordingly. This sba will serve as a basis to expound on the various reasons why these students
have these preferences and how it affects them and the society as a whole
Methodology
This Cognate SBA will be directed to students who attend the Fraser’s Educational Institute
between the ages of 13 to over 16, where they will be assessed using a questionnaire and
observation which will be asking a number of relevant questions in order to gather information
and assess these students. The process of distributing and gaining answers from the sample will
take up to three (3) days, which will be collected and analyzed in order to discover the reasons for
students purchasing from different venues (canteen or an outside vendor). The type of data that
will be gathered will be quantitative which will be calculated using appropriate formulae to
conclude the information gathered and presented on various graphs and charts. The factors that
can contribute to failure to complete this SBA are denied access to canteen records and accurate
information from other vendors.
