The Wife of Bath has been married five times. The moral of her tale seems to be that we should pursue our best selves and lives, rather than how others perceive us. Socrates is accused of trying to explain heavenly events rather than leaving them to the gods. He argues that ideas are more important than people because politicians knew little despite boasting, and poets wrote profoundly but couldn't explain their words. Line 38A of "The Apology" has Socrates explaining that stopping his philosophies would disobey the gods, while Meletus accuses him of speaking against them.
