Card Module Upgrade
The user can use Telnet session for TFTP upgrade or HyperTerminal COM port session for either TFTP or direct DB-9
transfer.
For HyperTerminal Connect to serial port on the management card with Null Modem Cable
(Note: For quickest upgrade time connect at 38400bps)
Once in HyperTerminal/or telnet the user must be in Superuser mode to upgrade management module.
Cpsmm100> SU=<xxxxxxx> (where xxxxxxx is the password. Note: Transition Networks ships its products
with a word "private" as default password)
Retrieve the upgrade firmware file. The user has two ways to retrieve BIN file
Option I. TFTP
Option II. Direct transfer of Firmware upgrade
OPTION I
Use "tftpget" command to initiate the process of downloading the code to the management module
Use "sicupg" command to initiate upgrade to a card (file is transferred from the management card to the card itself)
[SU] cpsmm100> sicupg=xxxx,y (where xxxx is the chassis' serial number and y is the slot number of the
card)
(example: [SU] cpsmm100> sicupg=6421,3 (where 6421 is the chassis' serial number and 3 is the slot
number of the card)
The following message will then appear (the beginning of upgrade process):

Use "sicxr" command to initiate the process of downloading the code to the management module
This command initiates a firmware upgrade file transfer to the management card. The user will need to send the .bin
file using Xmodem/CRC.
From the upper menu in the Hyper Terminal select TRANSFER then SEND FILE. Select XMODEM in the protocol
dropdown menu and browse to the previously saved xxxxxxxxxx.BIN on your local drive.
