Both European Union Educational Programmes (ENSSEE = European Network of Sports Science,
Education and Employment, AEHESIS = Aligning a European Higher Education Structure In Sport Science,
etc.) and Certification (ECVET = European Credits for Vocational Education and Training) form a new
educational background in Europe.

Since the start of the EHF in 1992 the EHF Technical Commissions as the EHF
technical bodies have worked on/handled all educational matters within the EHF.

EHF Statutory Basis/Responsibilities:

The EHF Competitions Commission (CC)


The Competitions Commission is the EHF's technical body for
competitions.
It is subordinate to the Executive Committee, which may assign to it
areas of authority and responsibility in addition to those laid down in
EHF statutes and regulations. The CC consists of a chairman and four
individually elected members with responsibility for:

The EHF Methods Commission (MC)
The Methods Commission is the EHF's technical body for methodical
matters.
It is subordinate to the Executive Committee, which may assign to it
areas of authority and responsibility in addition to those laid down in
EHF statutes and regulations. The MC consists of a chairman and four
individually elected members with responsibility for:

The EHF Beach Handball Commission (BC) –
as of September 2008
The 8th EHF Extraordinary Congress 2007 in “Rome/ITA voted in
favour of introducing a Beach Handball Commission as an additional
EHF Technical Commisssion to deal solely with the sport of Beach
Handball. This will consist of a chairman and four members to be
elected at the 9th EHF Ordinary Congress 2008 in Vienna/AUT, with
the following tasks:

EHF CAN - Preamble

• The European Handball Federation (EHF) is the governing body of handball in


Europe! Its 50 member federations represent and stand for 50 different kinds of
national and international handball know-how and competence. It goes without
saying that the unique national handball schools/philosophies shall preserve
and by no means be replaced by a centralized, uniform and directive handball
education!

• Handball research, know-how exchange and competence transfer in Europe


shall be fostered as an EHF service for the EHF member federations by making
use of national and international handball experts as well as external lecturers
from sport science, medicine, other sports, economy (marketing, equipment
suppliers), media (press, TV, Internet) and other team sports.
EHF CAN – The Objectives
The EHF CAN shall be regarded as an
- educational service centre for EHF Member Federations with subsidies and scholarships granted
-educational service centre for EHF Officials’/Office management training on the job

The EHF CAN shall


- develop and deliver sport specific educational and training programmes
- ensure that coaches, officials, athletes and administrators from all over Europe have access to the
highest quality education relating to “handball know-how“ by offering competences in e-learning, blended
learning, interdisciplinary courses of various duration, summer schools or mainstream 2-4 semester courses

The EHF CAN shall


- set-up business executive educational programmes for further educating and training sporting
administrators, resort managers and event executives in the handball event management business, e.g. in
event-related courses

The EHF CAN shall


- build-up a documentation centre including the production of modern teaching aids and media as well
as cooperation agreements with research & developing partners, suppliers and testifying institutions

Currently 30 EHF Lecturers from 18 EHF Member Federationare in this function. They cover the areas
Methods&Training, Refereeing and Beach Handball. EHF Commission Members, people in official EHF
function and external experts are not included in the list, but can be nominated as EHF lecturers to
national or EHF courses as well.
