Community Development Proposal
PROJECT TITLE
This project will support poultry and livestock farmers, including the small
households who owns poultry or livestock in their backyard to become a responsible
farmers of their poultry and livestock business or farms. The residence will benefit as
well in avoiding possible contamination that leads to sickness. The barangay itself will
be a beneficiary of this project for the development of the poultry farms and livestock
that can be the primary source of the barangay’s income. Most importantly, the
business owners and other residences in the barangay will learn the proper sanitation
and proper operation of their farms.
Barangay Villa Arcaya is more or less than 5 kilometers from the center of the
town, Maharlika high way. It is surrounded by the following nearby barangays:
Having a poultry and livestock business, the first priority of the owners should
be the proper sanitation of the farms. These poultry and livestock owners are
operating its business without enough knowledge on taking care of their farms. From
poor sanitation, diseases like salmonella, e. coli infections, influenza and etc. are
possible to spread from poultry and worst this can affect humans. This problem is not
yet existing in the barangay but the proponent is proposing this project to prevent this
kind of outbreak. In order for the Barangay to avoid possible diseases coming from
irresponsible farming of poultry and livestock, the proponent is proposing a project
where the owners of the business are supposed to be learning the methods of
becoming a responsible farmers of the barangay for proper hygiene and sanitation of
their poultry and livestock farms.
V. PROJECT OBJECTIVES
At the end of the implementation of this project, the poultry and livestock owners will:

Most of the households in the barangay is practicing catholic religion. Here is the
percentage of religion in the barangay (by the number of households):

2. BRIEF DISCUSSION
a. Social
Overall, the total population of the Barangay is 2169 people. They are not
crowded for a 207 hectares. There are 544 total families and 533 households, it means
that there are more than one families inside one house, but the number of households
compare to the number of families are not far from each other. Base from observation,
the people of the barangay are contented with thier living, social conflicts are minimal
and cooperation from the residences of the barangay is not a problem.

The culture of the people of the barangay is not fading even already
tested of time. Until now, the traditional “santacruzan” is still the highlight of the
patronal barangay fiesta. A lady must complete the rank of the queens until she
finishes the highest rank.

SWOT ANALYSIS
Strengths
Barangay Villa Arcaya is rich in fresh fishes, vegetable, root crops, poultry and
livestock farms that is a source of income for families and the barangay itself.
Barangay Villa Arcaya is not over populated.
The barangay is located near the center of the town and accessible by any
vehicles.
The residence of the barangay are industrious and resourceful.
The barangay is complete with natural resources such as arable land, sea, and
rivers.
Weaknesses
The owners of the poultry and livestock farms are not responsible enough for the
operation of their farms.
The waste and carcasses from the farms are thrown at the river and sea therefore
making it polluted.
The farms, especially poultry and livestock are producing bad odor and flies are
reproducing rapidly.
The barangay is not complaining about the operation of these poulty and livestock.
Opportunities
Threats
a. The owners of small and big poultry or livestock farms are not knowledgeable
enough in operating their farms.
b. The waste and carcasses are disposed in the bodies of water.
c. Large farms are located in the residential areas.
d. Bad odor and flies are everywhere the residential areas.
Phase 6: Evaluating
This is important for every project that are implemented. Evaluation is
determining whether the plan is properly implemented and the goals and objective
is achieved. It is knowing what are the learnings and achievement of the
participants. Also, it determines the performance of the working committee and the
effectiveness of the action plan.
This Framework is a cyclic process. Evaluation can be a source of the next
action plan to be developed. After evaluation, the committee will monitor and
conduct checking of poultry and livestock farms if the farmers are utilizing their
learnings and if there are changes in the community after the implementation of
the project.
5. IDENTIFY PROJECT SOLIDARITY IN ACTION
a. Dissemination of information
Posting of advertisement in the vicinity of the barangay. Including the date
of orientation, the target audiences, the speaker and other information. This should
be posted one week before. The project will he held for 7 days, every Saturday
starting 23th day of June until 4th day of August. The first day is for orientation, the
next three days is for poultry farming and the last three days for livestock farming.
b. Orientation (first day)
The project orientation will be took place on Saturday, 23th day of June,
2018 at 8:00 am in the barangay hall of Villa Arcaya, Gumaca, Quezon. The
orientation includes the specific guidelines, the objectives of the project the
rationale, the problems and proposed solution.
