Week 4 Blog

This week, the student focused on pre-production planning for their project. They finalized their idea and planned all production details. They encountered issues with time management and unresponsive actors but overcame these challenges. To ensure high quality storyboards, they wrote a detailed script first to visualize each scene. Their planning process has provided greater clarity around specifics of the production such as actors, locations, costumes and props. Ensuring a high standard script, they took time with writing and used research to develop characters. Actors were organized to be available when needed through advance scheduling. The student feels they are on track for the week with no additional work required outside of lessons.

Week Four - Planning

PLANNING

What did you learn from your planning This week I started work on my pre-production planning, I
this week? finalised my idea and planned all of details of my production. I
am know far more prepared to make my production.

What issues did you encounter and The biggest issues that I encountered this week was my time
how did you overcome them? management, some aspects took far longer than expected to
complete. I spent most of the week working on my script and
storyboard which meant I had less time to complete the other
tasks but luckily they did not take that long. I also had issues
with my actors not replying to confirmation messages but I
spoke to them and get them to reply.

How did you ensure that your To ensure that my storyboard was completed I first wrote the
storyboards were completed to a high script so that I could picture what I wanted to be on screen for
standard? each line. It also helped me to envision what mood I wanted to
set for each scene so I could decide what camera angles I
wanted to use. I also took my time drawing each frame as I am
not the best artist but I still wanted it to be clear.

How has your planning I now have a much clearer plan as to what I am going to
developed/changed during the create, before doing the planning I did not know the specifics
planning stage? of my production but I now do. I know exactly what actor and
location I am going to use as well as costumes and props. I also
know the full story and what exactly is going to happen and
when.

How have you ensured your To make sure that my script was completed to a high standard
script/shooting script is of a high I took my time when writing it to ensure that I did not make any
detailed standard? mistakes. I also used my research to present the characters
who I wanted them like making the gang member very
manipulative towards one of the friends. I also put a lot of
thought into it so that it would make sense and so that the story
was clear.

How well have you managed and Before planning I checked with my actors when they are
organised your cast and crew to be in available so I could plan to shoot scenes with the actors that I
available when you need them? need on certain days. I am the only person in the crew so all
that needed to be organised was the cast.

Are you on track for the week? If not, I am on track for this week.
how far behind are you?
