Steering Gear, Component Description
Steering Gear, Component Description
The steering gear is of the ball type, and contains an integrated pressure limiting valve. The oil pressure
in the servo system is limited to a maximum value of 16 MPa by the pressure limiting valve. A high
pressure combined with variable reduction in the steering gear makes driving easier, even at low speeds.
The automatically adjustable steering limiter is adjusted by means of the two discharge bolts in the
steering gear.
Turning the bolts in an anti-clockwise direction increases the pressure, while turning them in a clockwise
direction decreases the pressure. With the front axle raised and the limiting bolts correctly adjusted, the
discharge pressure is 5 MPa.

5. Oil inlet
6. Automatic steering limiter (lower)
Low axial load can occur due to looseness of the securing nut and a small amount of play can be noticed
in the nut.
The looseness occurs because the axial pre-load is low compared to the radial pre-load between the arm
and the steering shaft.
As the radial pre-load on the steering shaft is high, there is no safety risk involved.
The nut is locked by locking plate to ensure that the nut does not fall off the steering gear.
