Fatigue

The document provides calculations to check the flexural and shear resistance of a composite bridge section. For flexure, it calculates the yield moment of the top and bottom flanges, additional yield moment, and nominal flexural resistance based on these values. It then checks that the factored flexural demand is less than the nominal resistance. For shear, it calculates the web classification, shear buckling coefficient, nominal shear resistance, and checks that the factored shear demand is less than the nominal resistance. In both cases, the demands are found to be less than the resistances.

▪ Yield Moment(My) (AASHTO LRFD Bridge, 2012, D6.2.2)
① Yield Moment of Top Flange
MD1 MD2 + MAD 2.440E+10 2.284E+10 MAD
Fy = + = + + = 350
S Top S Top(3n) S Top(n) 1.113E+08 3.549E+08 3.926E+08
MAD = 2.487E+11 N·mm
MyTop = MD1 + MD2 + MAD = 2.960E+11 N·mm

② Yield Moment of Bottom Flange

MD1 MD2 MAD 2.440E+10 2.284E+10 MAD
Fy = + + = + + = 350
S Bot S Bot(3n) S Bot(n) 1.585E+08 2.088E+08 2.172E+08
MAD = 18839253210.470 N·mm
MyBot = MD1 + MD2 + MAD = 6.608E+10 N·mm

∴ My = min ( MyTop, MyBot ) = 6.608E+10 N·mm

S 3n : long-term composite section modulus (mm )

Sn : short-term composite section modulus (mm )
MD1 : moment of noncomposite section (kN·m)
MD2 : moment of long-term composite section (kN·m)
MAD : additional yield moment of short-term composite section (kN·m)

▪ Flexural Resistance of Composite compact section (AASHTO LRFD Bridge, 2012, 6.10.7.1.2)
ⅰ. Nominal Flexural Resistance in a continuous span
Mn1 = 1.3 Rh · My = 85897647173.611 N·m
ⅱ. Nominal Flexural Resistance by D p
D p > 0.1D t therefore,

Mn2 = Mp ( 1.07 - 0.7 ) = 77378839138.130 N.mm

∴ Mn = min ( Mn1, Mn2 ) = 77378839138.130 N.mm
