Launching IP

• .dat
• Main data file for a well, contains well header information, all
curves, last parameters ran on a single well module, basic curve
history and default log plot for that well (Give this to a friend, they
have your well)
• IPDBLock
• Which user has what well open. Delete this if IP won’t let you into a
well after (very rare ☺) crash; or wait 5 minutes
• IPDBWellList
• Contains a list of the well names, depth range, create date,
modified date for each well in the database. Try deleting this if your
database won’t open.
Data Structure in IP
• LAS Name
• Name of curve in LAS file
• IP Name
• How the curve name will
appear in IP
• Type
• Sets defaults of curve
based on type
• Load
• Select curves to be loaded
into IP
LAS Loader
• View File
• Opens up the original LAS file
in a text editor
• LAS Certify
• Used to verify the LAS file
conforms to LAS Standards
• Needs to be downloaded
separately from:

• Load
• Loads the data into IP
• New Well?
• Click the Blue Well icon, then click OK
• Enter no text in create well dialog if you
want to inherit from DLIS
• Edit Sets
• You can make a new set in a new well to
load ticked curves into that set

Formation / Zone Data
• Name Tracks
• Edit grids
• Edit Grid types
• Edit Number of Scale
