L 2 M E 210e9 V 0.3 Den 7860 Force : Procedures Solve Case by Ansys

1. A finite element analysis was conducted in ANSYS to analyze the deflection of a beam with given dimensions, material properties, and an applied force. 2. The beam model was discretized using 20-node solid elements and meshed with a global element size of 0.2. 3. Boundary conditions including a fixed support and concentrated force were applied to analyze the beam deflection under the given loading. 4. Post-processing was conducted to obtain the deflection, stress, and displacement results. The maximum deflection of the beam under the applied load was 0.0531 m.

Procedures solve case by Ansys :

1- Start Ansys program.

2- from Ansys main menu click on Preferences

3-select structural from menu appears >>> then ok

4-from main menu select Preprocessor >> Element Type >> Add/Edit/Delete
5- click on Add

6- select solid >>> 20node 186 >> OK

*** 20Node 186 is 3D Operation

7- To define the material beam properties select Material Props from main menu >>
Material Model

8 – from menu appears select Structural >> Linear >> Elastic >> click on Isotropic
9- on menu appeared put Modulus of Elasticity value in EX box like 210 Gpa (210e9)
at this case >> then put Poason's Ratio in PRXY box like 0.3 >> ok

10- From Material menu select Density >> then type density Material like 7860
>>OK >> close menu
11- To create a general model of beam >> select Modelling from main menu >>
create >> Keypoints >> In Active CS >>

1- Keypoint number 1 >> 0 , 0 , 0 >> Apply

2- 2 >> 1.85, 0, 0
3- 3 >> 1.85, -0.12, 0
4- 4 >> 2, -0.12,0
5- 5 >> 2, 0.15, 0
6- 6 >> 0, 0.15, 0

>> OK
12- Create >> Areas >> Arbitrary>> Through KPs >> Select the KPs from 1 to 6
,respectively >>OK
**be sure to select the KPs from 1 t0 6 respectively
13-To create the Circle >> select Modelling from main menu >> create >> Areas >>
Circle >> Solid Circle
WP X = 1.9
WP Y = 0.05
Radius = 0.03
>> OK

14- Now, create >> Areas >> Rectangle>> By 2 Corners

WP X = 0.3 WP Y = 0.1
Width = 0.1 Height = 0.05
>> OK
The final model of beam

15- to subtract the circle and rectangle,

Modeling >>Operate>>Booleans>>Subtract>>Areas
Click on beam and select all shapes to be pink , be sure all beam conversion to pink
>> OK

16-Then Select the Rectangle and Circle >> OK

The beam became as
17- Modeling>> Operate>> Extrude>>Areas >> Along Normal

Select the beam >> OK

18- put the thickness of beam in ( length of extrusion ) = -0.1 >>OK

**Ansys applying the extrusion on Z axis
19- Modeling>> Create >> Keypoints>>Hard PT on areas>> Hard Pt by coordinates
>> Select the face as illustrate bellow >> OK
20 – (1.8 , 0.15, - 0.05) , created this PT to put the force on it.
** be carfule create all Hard PT before mishing

21- Meshing >> Size Cntrls>> Manual size>> Global>> Size >> 0.2>> OK
22- Meshing >> Volumes >> Free >> Click on beam >> OK
23- Solution>> Define loads >> Apply >> Structural >>Displacement >> On Areas
>> select area >> OK

ALL DOF >> OK

24- Solution>> Define loads >> Apply >> Structural >> Force>>On
Keypoints>>select the Hard PT >> OK

>> OK
25 – To solve the case >> select Solve from solution menu >> Current LS

26– click OK
27 - When you press OK button , "Solution is done" appears, if it does not appear,
then you have error in your programming case >>> click close

28- Now you can see Deformation on beam , from main menu select General Postproc
>> Plot Result >> click on DEF+undef edge >> OK
Then appears the deformed on beam , the max deflection indicates by a red arrow

29- To show Finite Element solution >> from main menu select General Postproc >>
then select List Result >> select Nodal Solution >> from menu appease click on
Nodal Solution >> DOF Solution >> click on Y-Components of displacement >> OK
After Click OK appears solution list as shown , the red arrow indicates to Max Value

30- To show Deflection concentration Tool bar >> click on plot >> Result >>Contour
plot >> Nodal solution
31-From list menu pop up click on Nodal Solution >>DOF Solution >> Y-
components of displacement >> OK

the deflection concentration appears se figure

32- to show Stress repeat steps to reach Nodal Solution list then >> Nodal Solution
>> Stress >> X-components of stress >> OK

The stress concentration appears
