This document is an Extended Essay Research Proposal Form for a student. [1] It requires the student to discuss their topic of interest, preliminary research conducted, and potential research questions with their supervisor and obtain the supervisor's initials after each discussion. [2] The student must then agree to and initial boxes acknowledging their responsibilities for completing the research and essay according to IB guidelines and meeting deadlines. ____ I have discussed the research question with my on-campus mentor, and I will complete the
research and essay in accordance with the 2018 IB EE guidelines and Troy’s timeline. (See Troy IB
website found on the troyhigh.com website- IB Current Students page, Extended Essay page)

provide input to the development of the research question and the structure and content of the first draft
only. After the first draft, the mentor will be required to meet for the mandatory reflections sessions,
track the development of the paper, verify its authenticity, and provide a final grade.

____ I understand that it is incumbent on me to document my sources, be reflective on the process


(using Managebac) and to provide my mentor with bookmarked hard copies of those sources in the
researcher’s reflection space on Managebac, so that the mentor can verify the pages from which I
secured the information cited.

session, my effort to schedule meetings with my mentor, my faithfulness and punctuality in attending
those meetings, the quality of each assignment (including research question, footnotes, bibliography,
and each draft of the paper), the continued reflection of the process and the quality of the final product.

Mentor Agreement: by signing, you are acknowledging that you have discussed and approved the
research question above for the student’s Extended Essay. You are agreeing to supervise this student.
This will require a 3-5 hour commitment and include meeting with the student on at least 2
additional occasions for a total of 3 mandatory reflection interview sessions as defined in the new
2018 EE guide. The final submission is in November 2019. Thank you for your time!
