Moriones festival
It is a religious festival. Held every
holy week in Marinduque. It
originated from the town of Mogpog
in 1880’s. “Morion” means the visor
of the helmet that is associated with
the armor of roman soldiers. People
of Marinduque participate in this
festival. It is celebrated to remember
the past with the roman soldiers.
That is why they dress up as roman
soldiers when they celebrate.

ATI–ATIHAN FESTIVAL

Ati-atihan festival
A feast annually celebrated in
January. It is celebrated to
honor Santo Nino. Held in the
third Sunday. Celebrated in
Kalibo, in the island of Panay.
Originally came from Batan,
Aklan. Ati-atihan means “to be
like atis”. Their costumes are
indigenous and colorful.

KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL

Kadayawan festival
An annual festival celebrated in
Davao. Named from “madayaw”
meaning friendly greeting. And a
dabawenyo word “dayaw”
meaning good. It is celebrated in
the third week of August. Their
costume is filled with colorful
colors. The festival is full of
flowers and fruits.
