This weekly journal entry from a film student discusses their progress on planning and filming for their film project over the previous week. They encountered issues with actors canceling but were able to reschedule. Transportation problems due to holidays required rescheduling as well. The student ensured preparation through thorough planning, booking equipment and locations in advance, and communicating with their team. However, they acknowledge falling behind schedule with filming. They will need to complete new filming dates outside of lessons to stay on track.

PLANNING

What did you learn from your planning I was able to learn from planning this week that there is a lot
this week? needed to insure that I am 100% prepared and set for filming
as I could possibly encounter different problems during that
time therefore by having thorough planning completed I am
organised and not worrying as much as I could be if I hadn’t of
planned ahead. I also learnt that even with planning things
might not go straight according to how you want them to go

What issues did you encounter and The issues I ha e encountered are things such as actors not
how did you overcome them? turning up or cancelling. This was big for me as they were
really important actors and it was difficult for me to find backup
actors who fit the criteria that I was looking for which made it
twice as stressful however I was able to sort out more dates
the following week so I could film them in time to complete my
draft I also encountered problems with things like trains and
transport, because I was filming on a back holiday weekend it
meant that the trains and certain lines in London weren’t
running which was unfortunate however, I was able to
reschedule more dates for filming broll

How did you ensure that you are To ensure i was repared for filming i made sure i had all my
prepared for filming? planning cpmplete whick meant making everyone aware of
dates or new dates and pre book equipment that i needed.
Etc.

How did you ensure that your To ensure I was prepared for filming I made sure I booked all
equipment lists were completed to a the equipment I needed says in advanced and also packed my
high standard? bags prior so I wasn’t forgetting anything and not rushing on
the days of filming. I also made my actors aware again of
filming dates however still they still managed to forget
How have you ensured your actors I have ensured that my crew will be available by messaging
and crew will be available? them etc to make them aware and tell me if there are any
concerns prior to filming

How well have you been able to It was extremely fortunate and two of my filming locations were
organise locations and transport? in Henley therefore I was access to walk and trains as I go to
college every day and so did my crew, I also had public
transport options for London like trains and also the
underground taxis and also buses

Are you on track for the week? If not, Filming i am behind

how far behind are you?

What work do you need to complete New dates planned

outside of lessons to stay on track?
