Week 3 Blog

This weekly journal entry from a student discusses their research progress for their filmmaking project (FMP). They learned about their target audience and genres relevant to attracting their audience. Survey research helped improve their ideas and develop characters around interested actors. Test shoots provided insights into filming locations and camera techniques to incorporate into the production. The only remaining homework is continued writing.

Week Three - Research

RESEARCH

What did you learn from your From my research this week I learned about my target audience
research? and who I should be aiming my production at so that I can tailor
the pre-production to suit their expectations, when researching
this I learned about the sub-genres of the sci-fi genre and how
productions with similar target audiences to mine did to achieve
a high quality production and what interested their target
audiences.

How has the research into your target When looking at the target audience I sent out a survey so that I
audience helped you improve your have primary research and I did secondary research online to
ideas? then find out more about my target audience and who I should
be aiming my production at. When doing primary research, I sent
out a survey to get responses on important questions that will help
me develop my idea.

How has the research into your YouTube is very useful and I will definitely be publishing my
platform helped you improve your production on there and I can directly link it to my web site and it
ideas? means that it is free, anyone can access it making it easily
accessible to new people and my target audience and it is very
easy to share making it an effective, free and effective option for
getting my production out there

How has researching characters and I have decided to find appropriate actors for my productions
actors helped you decide who to characters then I developed the characters based on the actors
cast? so that the actors then suit the roles properly. I looked into various
attributes that make up the character as I mentioned in the first
section of this weekly blog and it has helped me as came up with
the rough ideas for characters then decided who could suit that
role, then I got asked the actors to make sure they could be in my
production and after this I developed my characters around the
actor and rough character idea so that they fit into my
production and so that they are relevant to the narrative
What have you learned from your My test shoots showed me what I needed to film and different
test shoots? How will you use these locations that may have worked. The main thing I focused on in
ideas in your production? my test shoots is moving the camera to its side taking the subject
out of frame as I am going to use this frequently in my end piece.

What work do you need to complete This week the only work I need to complete at home is writing
outside of lessons to stay on track? more and adding more in depth information but apart from that I
am on top of my work this week
