Introduction
PIR sensors referred to Passive Infrared sensor. It allows motion sensing, it used to detect whether
a human has moved in or out of the sensors range. Its advantages are small, inexpensive, low-
power, easy to use and don't wear out. so, they are commonly found in appliances and gadgets
used in homes or businesses.
It doesn’t send infrared rays but receive it only that’s how it used in many applications. And it only
detects infrared with wavelength 8-14 µm which is the wavelength emitted from human body
heat.
Features
• Complete with PIR, Motion Detection.
• Dual Element Sensor with Low Noise and High Sensitivity.
• Supply Voltage – 5V.
• Delay Time Adjustable.
• Standard TTL Output.
For wiring with arduino it requires to connect three pins VCC, GND and output
signal so it simply can used for turn lights on or off and other applications.
How to test it
It can be tested by connecting VCC and GND to 3V -5V and connect the output pin
to a LED when the PIR detects motion, the output pin will go high up to 3.3V and
light up the LED!
Once the breadboard wired up, insert batteries and wait 30-60 seconds for the
PIR to stabilize. During that time the LED may blink a little. Wait until the LED is off
and then move around in front of it, waving a hand to see the LED light up.
