Example of flexible flowline after 27+ years of
service
Shallow water flowlines operated in West Africa

YANGA: 4“ GI static riser: 1981- 2008 (27 years)

Good condition of the structure at less than 1 m
from the damage

BALISTE: 8“ Prod. flowline: 1978 - 2007(29 years)

Good condition of the structure close to the
damage

Above Flowlines after 27+ year of production are still in perfect

condition despite no maintenance from the operator

Flexible pipe life & Integrity Management (IM)
Risk approach SAT
 Risk analisys (e.g. FMECA)  Line Pressure test
 Integrity Management (IM) plan definition  Annulus test
 Gagging pigging
 Inline inspection approach  Offshore technician assistance & Spares
 UT, X-ray surveillances of pressure
sheath Integrity API 17B recommended
…  Global Visual Inspection (GVI)
FAT  Annulus test per year (if vent port
 Annulus vacuum test accessible)
 Static pressure test (24 hours)  Integrity Management (IM) plan (risk based
 Gagging pigging external or internal inspection and/or

Conclusion

 Flowline IMR work is very limited (due to its low risk

profile)

 Flexible pipe can be operated without maintenance

shutdown (due to its design) and at lower cost that carbon
steel pipe

 Existing Inspection, Maintenance & Repair (IMR) services

are available in Asia Pacific region (by Technip or 3rd Party)
