Challenge the whole class to do “The Dalagang Pilipina Challenge” (Contextualization)
B. ACTIVITY (21st Century Learners/Interaction)
Think-Pair and Share
Ask the students to pair up with their seat mates and take turns in answering these
questions.
Are you confident of your ability to deal with challenges in life?
How do you overcome your fear when dealing with a difficult challenge?
C. ANALYSIS
Choose some pair of students and ask them to share the answer of their partner.
Is your seatmate confident dealing with challenges in life? If the answer is yes
then how, if the answer is no how you can help him?
Suggest advice to overcome fear with difficult challenges.
D. ABSTRACTION (21st Century Skills/Technology-based learning)
Present the video about the Myth of Arachne.
E. APPLICATION (Differentiated Instruction)
Have each students work in four groups. Each group will perform a small group
differentiated activities.
Group 1 (Story Board Organizers)
Ask the learners to arrange the flow of the story using the pictures to be given by
the teacher.
Group 2 (Graphic Organizers)
Ask the learners to identify the theme of the myth and present it through spider web
graphic organizer. Cite some event based on the video to support the theme.
Group 3 (Act it out)
Ask the learners to act one the scene between Arachne and Athena in not more than 5
minutes. Students, will be the one to formulate their own script following the video
presented.
F. ASSESSMENT
Direction: Answer the following questions based on the Myth of Arachne.
1. How does Arachne feel about her weaving skills?
2. What prevailing mood is conveyed in Arachne? Cite scene in the story that convey
that mood clearly.
3. What tone is used in the story?
4. What are some details in the story that will prove that Arachne’s pride is the reason of
her downfall?
5. What is the nature of the conflict in Arachne?
6. What character trait is shown by Arachne?
7. Did Arachne observe what happened to her at the end?
8. Does the story help you understand the value of dealing with challenges?
