My Teaching philosophy

Why some people choose to become an educator? It is a question that even the
teachers themselves can’t answer it, some of them will say “it was the right choice back
at the college” or “I just need it the easiest program” and even some of them did not
study it. In my opinion, I chose to become a teacher because I feel like teaching is a job
that is inspiring. The kids pick up things during their schools’ life and they learn. One
day this kid will grow up and became someone important in society and the thought of
me as the reason of what he/she became it is amazing.
How I see myself in five years as a teacher? To be honest I don’t know but I will
try to figure it out through this teaching philosophy. I hope by the end of this teaching
philosophy I will be able to see it.

COMMITMENT TO THE PROFESSION

Commitment, as a student I sometimes I don’t feel how deep this word is. Now when I think as a
teacher, commitment become something big in my life and I feel it a lot when I go to schools for
my teaching practice. Being around 23 children, I feel a lot of responsibility and that what makes
me try to be more commitment. How I can be commitment to my job? Being on time. The
teacher should be on time and never be late. There are many reasons why I think this is very
important but mostly the safety of the students. That should be the teacher priority. Some
students come to school very early and leaving them unsupervised is very wrong and dangerous.
Also being commitment to the job, it shows how much you care about the job. Communicating
with your students it is another way to show your true commitment. I trust that the best
teaching that I can give to my students is by communicate with them. Getting close with your
students make you learn a lot about them and sometimes you learn from them. Having a fun
class and enjoyable is one of my goal as a future teacher. I want my students to have fun during
my lessons and at the same time I want them to learn. So, my main goal now is to learn how I
can I combine these two together in the most helpful way for the students. The reason why I
want my students to have fun learning in my classroom is because I remember when I was a
student, I loved when the class was fun and if I enjoyed the class even if it was difficult subject I
recall I was trying my best and I wanted to try to understand it.
PLANNING FOR LEARNING

It is very important as a teacher to plan your lesson and be prepared for the class. I
believe planning for the lesson make it easy for the teacher to give the lesson in the easiest way.

As a future teacher, one of my goals is to have my lessons plans ready week ahead
before giving the lesson. How? I can do weekly plans. By the end of each week I should start
planning for the week after. Also, to make it easy planning I should collect all the information
that I need for the lesson, materials and making sure all my resources are ready. The daily
planning is a very effective way to plan the lesson and to keep me on track. Sometimes I have
difficulty to come up with ideas for the lesson or in the other words having difficulty to plan a
lesson because I always relies on my brain to come up with ideas for the lesson and I try to not
use the internet. My second goal is to use the internet to help me to come up with ideas for the
lesson. How I can use the internet for my lessons plan? There are many websites that can help
me and can give me ideas for my lessons. One of these websites called pinterest, it is very good
website and it is full of ideas for any subject.

IMPLEMENTIMG LEARNING

After the planning it is time to give the lesson and as a teacher it is my responsibility to
give a lesson that is fun and full of information, because I believe a fun lesson make the students
understand well and don’t feel bored. One of my goals is make my lesson fun and engaging at
the same time. How? To make my lesson more fun there are no best way than games. Kids love
to play games and I think it will be good to combine learning and games together, for example; If
the students need to remember their spelling words, plan a “spelling bee” a contest in which
participants are eliminated when they misspell a word.(2019,Cox) My second goal is being able
to give the lesson within the planned time frame. I’ve always had trouble with my time
management during the lessons. How? Try to make my warm up short, make the assessment
and closing as one.

MANGING LEARINING

While giving the lesson, sometimes the teachers face surprising situation such as
misbehavior or loses the students attention. One of my goals is to try to Address bad behavior
quickly if it happens during my lesson, I don’t ignore it because I might forget, or the students
will feel it is ok for them to behave like this in the classroom if I don’t address the problem at the
time it happens. How I can address the problem during the lesson? Firstly, I stop the lesson and
remind the students of the classroom rules if he/she broke one. I can use ClassDojo if I see
misbehavior and show them when I take points from them. This way the students will know and
understand that its not ok for them to act that way in the classroom.
ASSESSMENT

Trying to make sure my students understand the lesson is very important because I can
see if they are ready to go for the next lesson. I always use oral assessment which I ask the
students questions by the end of each lesson, it is good way to know if my students understand
and I want and it is also one of my goals is to have another ways of assessment such as peer
assessment. Peer assessment is when I let the students test each other knowledge. Also, by
using technology which I can play a video by the end of the lesson and then ask one simple
question “who can tell me what the video is about?” then I hear their answers and I can see if
they understand the lesson. Also, we cannot forget the online games which an effective way to
make sure of the student’s understanding.

REFLECTION

As a teacher it is very important to reflect on my lessons and on the way of my teaching,

because the more I reflect the more I improve. Reflecting helps me to know my strength and
weakness during my lesson. One of my goals is to try to reflect on my teaching every day. How?
Make it a part of my lesson plans. By adding a blank at the end of each lesson plan I make. This is
a good way because it always reminding me that I need to reflect on my lesson. Also, Peer
observations and reflections. Make one of my friends come to my class and observe one lesson
and then she gives me a feedback. (2016, Paul)

conclusion
It is not the end of my teaching philosophy because as a future teacher I’m still learning and
gaining new experience. As a student teacher I learn a lot from my mentor teachers during my
teaching practice experience and sometimes my goals and the way I think changes, because in
my mind I think that being a teacher is very easy job but when I went to teaching practice for
the first time that whole idea faded away.
