Re: Odd Job Disposal, Inc.

Dear Mr. Christensen:
This Office is reaching out to you in light of recent consumer complaints and
a media report raising concern about the services Odd Job Disposal, Inc. is
providing within Oakland County. I would like to discuss this matter with you this
Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. My number is below so that you can call me at
that time.
The Attorney General's Corporate Oversight Division is responsible for
bringing enforcement actions under the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, MCL
445.901 et seq. That Act is violated when a person or company fails to provide a
customer with promised benefits. MCL 445.903(1)(y). When a company cannot
fulfill obligations for which it has collected money, it must make refunds to
consumers. MCL 445.903(1)(u). The Attorney General has authority to both
conduct formal investigations and to bring lawsuits under this Act.
But given the urgency for clarity for residents who are expecting trash pick-
up in the coming week, we hope you will provide immediate information about Odd
Job Disposals' ability to honor its commitments.
You are welcome, and encouraged, to have an attorney representing the
company join us in this discussion. We can then use this occasion to open a
dialogue about the company's future plans, both in terms of service and refunds,
where appropriate.
For your convenience, the three consumer complaints are enclosed with this
letter. I observe, with disappointment, that Odd Job Disposal did not provide a
timely response to the first of these three. As decisions will soon be made about

how to proceed with respect to the issues raised in these complaints (and in the
recent media story), it will be in your company's interests to respond timely to this
letter.
I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you, or an appropriate
representative of your company on Thursday.
Sincerely,

Darrin F. Fo
