Suspicious Partner
I admit, Suspicious Partner was one of my anticipated kdrama of 2017 along with
Fight for My Way. It was aired a week earlier than FFMY.
Honestly, I did put high expectations for these two dramas mean, duh, these dramas
filled with capable, don’t-forget-the-good-looking-factors, and talented young
actors. Ji Chang Wook-Nam Ji Hyun casted in Suspicious Partner.
I love this drama. I really do. Even i enjoy this drama much more than Fight For My
Way.
The plots, the characters, the actors, the humor-timing are thumbs-up. Ji Chang
Wook and Nam Ji Hyun, once again, proves their capability as hot-young-talanted-
actors. I did doubted that Ji Chang Wook would be doing well in romantic-comedy
genre since he’s well known for being action-actors. and you know what, i was
shocked that he could keep up and even slay in his role as grumpy-miserable-
prosecutor-turned-into-lawyer, Noh Ji Wook. I admit that it was hard seeing him not
in his usual manly-k2-style in the drama’s early episodes. I kept seing him as Kim Je
Ha from K2 haha. The thoughts of “Ah....why can’t i feel his ‘No Ji Wook’ vibes in his
acting” popping up in my mind. But as the episodes goes on. DANG BABY. THIS
GUY IS TRULY NOH JI WOOK. AAH JINJJA WHERE HAD I BEEN?!?! I even like him
acting in this drama more than his previous drama. I love how grumpy and whiny
Noh Ji Wook was. I understand his feeling, i mean how would you feel if you had to
give up the jobs that means the world to you for saving someone you barely like.
He couldnt even explain what he did in the first place. As if that’s not the worst, he
had to move job from prosecutor to lawyer, a job he hates the most. Ji Chang Wook
portrayed his character perfectly and makes the best version to show to us.
I’m so happy that Nam Ji Hyun took the role Eun Bong Hee. She’s not the first
candidate actress to play this character. Lee Sung Kyung or Han Ji Min were
supposed to take this role, but thankfully they declined it. I can’t even imagine
anyone play “Eun Bong Hee”
-soompi-
and remember why we’ve fallen in love with this drama and its beautiful characters.
Eun Bong Hee (Nam Ji Hyun) trips and falls when she confronts her cheating boyfriend Jang Hee Joon
(2PM’s Chansung). But she doesn’t stay on the floor or break out in tears immediately like a lot of other
female leads. Instead, she stands up, dusts herself off, and takes a breath before limping off. We knew
right then that we had a female lead that we could get behind!
Bong Hee is portrayed as a strong, go-getter type female, but she isn’t afraid to
show her vulnerable side. And frankly, we’ve all had this type of day before, haven’t
we?
Eun Bong is in “the zone,” which means she probably hasn’t showered for awhile, and (among other less
attractive features) sports wild, messed up hair. Even so, Ji Wook is proud of what she’s uncovered, and
pulls her in for a big hug, repeating his words from years ago, “You’re dirty but you’re pretty.” And isn’t
that what we want from our significant others? To still hold us even at our lowest dirtiest!
2. When Ji Wook sees a client of his die right in front of his eyes, he rushes over to Bong Hee and
pleads that she likes him back, as he realizes life is too short. Bong Hee, seeing his sincerity,
breaks down in tears; as she cries, you can see her walls coming down and all the pent up
anxiety and feelings of being wronged chip away and dissolve. You can really only be so raw and
vulnerable in front of someone you trust, and we saw that Ji Wook was that kind of person to
Bong Hee.
My favorite and always be favorite scene is the hair and shoulder kiss. Yikes they should have had that
again in the final episode but the production team probably felt that it was way too private and personal
that only the JiBong should share. So we got the simple proposal instead. The vibe of this drama is so
much like She Was Pretty. There was no fireworks during the ending, just comfortable old-tshirt with
nice detergent feeling, something that you know is not ending but instead moving forward slowly? Yeah.
Like we know their reality will go on and this drama will continue to live even after the show ends. But
what I'm trying to say here is... I need JiJi couple to be on the same drama again.
