Read the following text and answer questions 17-24.

Good morning. Today I’m going to talk about the importance of national parks. Many countries have
national parks which are meant to preserve and protect plants and animals in their natural habitats.
These parks promote opportunities for the public to understand and enjoy the special qualities of
nature and biodiversity. Some of the well-known national parks in Malaysia are Taman Negara,
Kinabalu Park and Bako National Park.

These national parks have become an attraction for both local and foreign visitors. Visitors who
would like to spend a few days at these parks can choose to stay in wooden chalets. For those who
are feeling more adventurous, there are campgrounds available for rent. In addition, activities such
as jungle trekking, nature walks, flying fox, abseiling and mountain climbing are also available.

Nevertheless, much can be done to improve the facilities of these national parks. The paths leading
to these parks need to be brightly lit and the pathways have to be upgraded with proper tar roads.
Employing more tour guides, park rangers and forest rangers too will encourage more visitors. Finally,
there need to be more awareness of the existence of these national parks through campaigns and
advertisements.
