Human Trafficking
Falling into Human Trafficking can be very scary to anyone, but this dilemma usually
occurs to mostly children and women of all ages. With the rise of more women and children
being trafficked daily. This problem has caused more women fearing to go out of there house to
do things like shopping or even going out to parties having to fear what can happen to them if
they do not have a friend with them to take them back home. There are many of people around
the world that is currently being trafficked under the radar and others do not understand how
serious this problem is. Unfortunately, a lot of young girls and women are getting trafficked
daily and they have no way of getting out of it without help from law enforcements and family
members. Kidnappings of women and girls usually would take place in a crowded area like busy
gas stations and or train stations where the girls are alone. Some of the trafficking can start off
online on dating websites or any adult websites where someone can message and ask to meet up
in a private area, also it can occur with models looking for an opportunity in modeling and the
trafficker can take an advantage on a desperate woman needing to jumpstart their careers. With
Human Trafficking becoming one of the biggest problems that the world is facing, countries
needs to crackdown on human trafficking because it is affecting everyone daily life some way.
A lot of people in the world are currently being trafficked into either labor forces and or
sex trafficking. With the rise of Human Trafficking in the world it has made a lot of people more
aware of there surroundings and how they go about on doing things on their own when it gets

dark out. Human trafficking usually contains women of all ages, and children. Most Children are
put into labor trafficking working in farms in foreign countries. According to “Polaris” for the
estimate of 40.3 million victims globally Seventy-Five percent of victims are women and girls,
Twenty-Five percent are children, and Eighty-One percent are trapped in forced labor
(“Polaris”). Most of the Human Trafficking consist of women who are usually put in and sold off
to Sex trafficking. It states that “global sex trade is the fastest growing form of commerce, worth
$32 billion annually, human trafficking is the fastest growing area of organized crime and the
third largest income revenue for organized crime after narcotics and arms sales (Nour and
Deshpande)”. Women and young girls are being sold off by their pimps to have Sex with people
for money, after they are done, they return to their pimps and get sold off again. With the
traffickers gaining money by selling off women into sex slavery. With women being most of the
human trafficking, it becomes a problem for women and young teens to be able to go out alone.
Most girls become paranoid to go out during the night or even go out to put gas by their selves.
These are one of the many problems that takes place for all women around the world, they feel
like they always need a strong man or women to be with them to feel safe.
In order to fully grasp the problem of human trafficking, it is great to gain a better
understanding of how and why victims of Human Trafficking get brought into and why they do
not just try and escape it by themselves. Not every victim has the same luck of escaping and
going back to their normal lives. People might be asking how to do they get enslaved into being
Trafficked, the answer to that question is that most of the victims being trafficked are women
and girls. According to Molly Edmonds “victims are kidnapped, and once enslaved, traffickers
use tactics like rape, physical abuse, food and sleep deprivation, or drug administration to control
and condition them. The traffickers usually keep their victims under lock and key, complete with
Martinez 3
guards who become violent if anyone tries to escape (Edmonds 3).” Many of the victims are
paranoid after going through many abuses from the traffickers that they would usually just do
what they say, and mentally they would feel that there is no escape for them and feel like they
are stuck in a reoccurring cycle. Another way that victims are “Recruited” into Sex Trafficking,
is that “they are promised to get an education and or citizenship in a foreign country” many of
the victims are desperate to get an education to get a better career and others are trying to avoid
deportation (Nour and Deshpande). Many of the victims would take their chances to better their
lives and unfortunately most would be forced into sex trafficking and not be able to escape it.
Finally, with the huge dilemma increasing in a rapid pace there is a need in of a
solution to ultimately decrease the amount of people being trafficked all over the world. There
have been efforts of a solution to stop Human Trafficking, but it is not that easy to find who are
the main leader of organizing the trafficking. Since Trafficking happens all the world it would be
difficult to fully eliminate the enslavement of people all over the world. In the United States of
Americas there has already been laws in place to criminalize Human Trafficking. Under the laws
it is “Criminalized under the Under federal law, it is a crime to compel another person to provide
labor, services, or commercial sex through prohibited means of coercion (Williams 623)”. With
this law in place it is illegal to buy sex, even though this law is in place in the United States he
still takes place under the table and online. With many of people being trafficked, some are lucky
to escape and find help to recover from mental abuse by seeking help from therapy. The year
2017, “The Department directed $45 million towards supporting programs that assist victims of
human trafficking… Nearly $3 million funded training and support for law enforcement task
force… resulted in the identification and rescue of real victims and prosecution of their trafficker
Martinez 4
(William 629)”. This shows that money is put into programs putting an effort in hopes to resolve
There are many steps to take to resolve the huge dilemma but one of the ways we can
resolve the problem with Human Trafficking is to restrict the adult websites that sell sex online.
If these websites are more restricted and more monitored it could decrease the amount of people
being trafficked. A lot of people get trafficked in public areas like train stations and subways,
another way they can catch more of the traffickers is to train more law enforcements to know the
tendencies of trafficker’s traits and where they are hidden. Also being in a populated area Law
enforcement can find the victims of sex trafficking and save them from a horrible situation and
find new information of the main traffickers. With there should be help to the victims after they
are saved to free there mind mentally from all the abuse they endured.
