SCHEME OF STUDIES

GRADES I – XII
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. It will apply w.e.f. Academic Session 2007.

2. A period of five years i.e. up to Academic Session


2011 is given for Science and Mathematics to be taught in
English Language in all Schools. Provinces will
keep on gradually converting as the
teachers become available.

3. All Middle Schools will have Computer Laboratories in 3


years time to be able to teach Computer Education from
Class VI.

CURRICULUM AIMS

To educate Pakistanis to be:

 Seekers of truth and knowledge who can apply both for the
progress of society;
 Creative, constructive, communicative and reflective
individuals;
 Disciplined, productive, moderate and enlightened citizens;
 Capable of effectively participating in the highly competitive
global, knowledge-based economy and the information age;
citizens committed to creating a just civil society that respects
diversity of views, beliefs and faiths.

Early Childhood Education

Age 4/5, Full day nursery of scholars from 0830 to 1230

Language Experience Block (Native language/Urdu/English)

 Folk tales from regional, national and Islamic sources

NOTIFICATION

In pursuance of the decisions taken in the Education Secretaries Committee


meeting held on 15 September4, 2007 in Islamabad and in partial modification of this
Ministry’s notification No.F.8-1/2006-SSG dated 27 June, 2006, the part-wise examination
system at Secondary School Certificate level shall be re-introduced with effect from 2008
examinations. The students who did not appear in Grade IX examination in 2007 would,
however, take composite examinations in 2008. The distribution of subjects and marks under
part-wise examinations at SSC level will be as per sthe enclosed Annexure.

2. Islamiat/Ethics (for noon-Muslims) at HSSC level will be taught to the students


for two years but the examination will be conducted by the Examination Boards at HSSC –II
(Grade XII).

3. All Provincial Education Departments including AJK and others concerned will
ensure implementation of the Scheme of Studies 2006 and make all out efforts to get the
textbooks developed compatible with sthe new National Curriculum in line with sthe National
Textbook and Learning Materials Policy and get these approved from the Curriculum Wing of
the Ministry of Education by May 2008 to ensure availability before the start of academic
session beginning August, 2008 according to the following schedule of implementation
already notified:-
