Wireless LAN Controller Access Point Operations


General Commands Access Points Commands Default Settings
Display output without breaks: no paging Display the list of active APs: show ap active Default username: aruba
Display more system information: show tech-support Display APs known by the controller: show ap database long Default enable password: aruba123
Display common system information: show switchinfo Display the list of inactive APs: show ap database inactive Default password: aruba123
Display master-local information: show switches Display APs’ radio settings: show ap bss-table Gain full access to the CLI: <ctrl>+<esc>+k
Display current running configuration: show running-config Display settings of an AP group: show ap-group <ap-group>
Display all log messages: show log all Reboot an AP: apboot ap-name <ap-name>
Move an AP to another controller: ap-move ap-name <ap-name>
Reset AP to Factory Defaults
Display activity statistics on each port: show port status
Display OS versions used: show image version Display the list of clients connected to a specific AP: 1 - Connect a console cable to the AP
show ap debug client-table ap-name <ap-name> 2 - Power up the AP
Display the licenses installed: show license
Clear old APs from the controller’s database: 3 - Hit Enter when you see the autoboot countdown
Display informations about L3 interfaces: show ip interface brief clear gab-db ap-name <ap-name> 4 - You should see the “apboot>” prompt
Save current configurations: write memory Display Regulatory Domain channels available: 5 - Enter the following commands:
Exit the current session: logout show ap regulatory-domain-profile <profile> apboot> purge
Assign an AP to another AP group: apboot> save
Reboot the controller: reload system
ap-regroup ap-name <ap-name> <new-ap-group> apboot> boot
Display details about a specific interface:
6 - AP will reboot with factory defaults
show interface gigabitethernet <0/0>
7 - Use the default credentials to login (aruba/aruba123)
Upgrade ArubaOS from a USB drive: Clients Commands
copy usb: partition 1 filename system : partition 0
Display associated clients: show user
Display a specific client details : show user mac <client-mac> Convert IAP to Campus AP
Radio Commands Display the authentication phase: show auth-tracebuf mac <client-mac> 0 - AP and controller must have some regulatory domain configurations
Display the 5GHz radios config: show rf dot11a-radio-profile Display a voice client status: show ucc client-info sta <client-mac> 1 - Connect a console cable to the AP
2 - Enter the following command to convert the IAP to a campus AP:
Display the 2.4GHz radios config: show rf dot11g-radio-profile Display clients per radio: show user bssid <bssid-address>
(iap)# convert-aos-ap CAP <controller-IP-address>
Display active 5GHz radios: show ap active dot11a Display clients per SSID: show user essid <ssid-name>
Display active 2.4GHz radios: show ap active dot11g Deauthenticate a client: aaa user delete <client-mac>
Display details of a RF profile: Display the list of associated client to an AP: Configure Controller IP address
show rf arm-profile <arm-profile_name> show ap association ap-name <ap-name>
1 - Connect a console cable to the AP
Display ARM information for a specific AP: Display information about a specific client:
show ap client status <client-mac> 2 - Enter the following commands to configure the WLC IP address:
show ap arm rf-summary ap-name <ap-name>
(ap)# setenv maset <master-controler-address>
Display specific AP radio statistics:
show ap arm state ap-name <ap-name>
Debug Commands
show debug
Packet Capture Display current debug config:
Display DFS events: show log all | include radar
Enable a packet capture for a specific client:
Display a voice call MOS: show ucc call-info cdrs
packet-capture datapath <mac-address> all
Debug anything system related to a specific AP:
Send the capture to a local file on the contoller:
show ap debug system-status ap-name <ap-name>
packet-capture destination local-filesystem
Enable debug for a specific client & display the client debugs:
Send the capture to a remote server (Wireshark for example):
logging level debugging user-debug <client-mac>
packet-capture destination ip-address <server-IP-address>
show log user-debug all
Copy the capture to the local flash:
Display a client roaming history
packet-capture copy-to-flash datapath-pcap
show ap client trail-info <client-mac>
