Inuyasha Eisode 9, Enter Shippo Plus de Amazing Thunder Brothers
Inuyasha (犬夜叉), also known as Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale (Japanese: 戦国御伽草子 犬夜
叉 Hepburn: Sengoku Otogizōshi Inuyasha), is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by
Rumiko Takahashi. It premiered in Weekly Shōnen Sunday on November 13, 1996, and concluded
on June 18, 2008, with the chapters collected into 56 tankōbon (individual volumes of a single manga)
volumes by Shogakukan.
The series begins with Kagome Higurashi, a 15-year-old schoolgirl from Tokyo who is transported
to the Sengoku period, wich is a period in Japanese history marked by social upheaval, political
intrigue and near-constant military conflict. Japanese historians named it after the otherwise unrelated
Warring States period in China. It was initiated by the Ōnin War, which collapsed the Japanese feudal
system under the Ashikaga shogunate (a government controlled by the chief military commanders),
and came to an end when the system was re-established under the Tokugawa shogunate by Tokugawa
Ieyasu.
In that Japan’s epoch, after falling into a well in her family shrine, she meets the half dog-demon,
Inuyasha. When a monster from that era tries to take the magical Shikon Jewel embodied in Kagome,
she inadvertently shatters with an arrow the Jewel into many pieces that are dispersed across Japan.
Inuyasha and Kagome, which are the main characters, they both start traveling to recover it before
the powerful demon Naraku finds all the shards.
Inuyasha and Kagome gain several allies during their journey, including Shippo, Miroku, Sango
and Kirara. In contrast to the typically comedic nature of much of Takahashi's previous work,
Inuyasha deals with a darker and more serious subject matter, using the setting of the Sengoku period
to easily display the violent content while still retaining some comedic elements, and also a deep
psychological aspect involving the duality that InuYasha suffers within because of his not pure
background, he is a half-breed blood a hybrid, born to a dog-demon father and a human mother,
different from the other demons they have to fight along the series; pure demons.
Episode’s 9 narrative, brings to the scenario a character Shippo, hi is an orphan child fox demon,
that wants revenge from his father’s murderer, here is where the Amazing Thunder brothers appear,
well know because of their ability to control the weather and cause a big disaster with it, including
destroying Shippo’s village and killing his father.
The thunder brothers have on his property three fragments of the Shikon Jewel, which they had
being using for increasing their natural powers sowing fear throughout the entire region. Looking
desperately the way of beating them Shippo tries to stole a fragment form InuYasha and Kagome,
here the plot becomes complex. The thunder brother discover that InuYasha and Kagome have more
fragments of the jewel and they want them, they kidnap Kagome and challenge InuYasha to a duel;
the fragments or Kagome’s life. ¿Who will win, who will lose? ¿Will InuYasha save Kagome? ¿Will
Shippo find what he is looking for?
This episode is pretty well illustrated, animation as usual catch the viewer’s attention, the villains
have a profound background and an insatiable desire for power, The amazing Thunder Brothers are
that couple you don’t want to be enemies with, this elevates the will of InuYasha and Kagome for
realizing the region form the pain and sorrows that the Shikon Jewel can bring in the wrong hands.
This is a totally-recommended anime, from the beginning to the end a classic, a must-view, if you
want to learn about Japans Civil wars from a fantastic perspective and understand a little of the otaku
culture beginning.
