Course Focus and Objectives:


The goal of this course is to extend your content knowledge in mathematics. This rigors course will promote
independent and collaborative thinking, problem solving, and prepare you for the rigors of higher education.
You will receive knowledge of the 7th Grade Virginia Mathematic Standards which include the domains of:
Number Sense, Computations, Expressions, Functions, Geometric Relationships, Statistics and Probability,
Equations, Inequalities, Transformations, and Measurement.

Class Expectations:
1. We are safe
Keep hands, feet and other objects to ourselves.
2. We are respectful
Wait our turn to speak, listen to the speaker, and follow directions.
3. We are kind and honest
Treat others the way we want to be treated.
4. We are responsible
We use our time wisely and complete all of our assignments.
5. We are prepared
We are on time and bring all of our materials every day.

Behavior Management:
Class Dojo will be used to reinforce class expectation. Each student should strive for at least 80% positive
feedback each week. Students who consistently model exceptional behavior will be rewarded. Parents and
guardians are encouraged to sign up at https://www.classdojo.com/ to follow their child and receive important
classroom updates.

Grading Summary: Grading Scale:


50% Major assignments/Tests A 100-90
20% Quizzes B 89-80
20% Classwork C 79-70
10% Homework D 69-60
F Below 60
Homework:
Homework will be given at least 3 times a week and will be graded.

Assessments:
Each Unit will have assignments, homework, quizzes, and tests. Dates to keep in mind:
● Benchmark 1: by December 3rd
● Benchmark 2: by February 20th
● Benchmark 3: by April 11th
● SOL Testing: May 13th - May 31st
*Note: The above guide may be adjusted by the teacher at any point*

Laptops:
Laptop will be given out to each student during class. Each student is responsible for the laptop they are
assigned to. Problems with the laptop need to be reported at the beginning of class.

Absentees:
Students will have 3 school days to make up any missed work. If a student will be out for a long period of time,
please let me know at least a week in advance so I can send materials home in advance.
