Sizing A Generator

This document provides a worksheet to calculate the power and cooling requirements for a data center. It estimates the critical load to be 666.75 kW based on existing and future IT equipment. It then calculates the total power needed as 1,161.37 kW to support both electrical and cooling demands. Based on this, it estimates the required electrical service from the utility as 3,814 amps at 220 volts. It also estimates the size of a standby generator would need to be 1,742.05 kW to support the critical loads during an outage. Finally, it calculates the total heat output of the data center to be 698,888 watts or 199.68 tons of cooling.
