Lesson Plan Title: Brush Bots Opening Question

This lesson plan introduces students to brush bots, which are small robots made from toothbrushes and motors. Students will build their own brush bots by attaching a motor to a toothbrush handle using tape and rubber bands. They will connect the motor to a battery using wires to power it. The objectives are for students to explore concepts of energy, electricity, and machines through cooperative building. Students will then reflect on what worked well, where they had trouble, and how different materials would change the outcomes.

volt battery, pipe cleaners (for stability) and decorations.

Grade: grade to middle school

Vocabulary: electrons, positive and negative charge, circuit/ closed connection

Objectives: explore concepts of energy, electricity, and machines. Commucate to create a

Outcomes: students will...

Build through inter-personal exploration
Foster cooperation and collaboration
Engage in mechanical concepts

Exercises Directions (step by step)

● Cut off bristle end of the toothcrush, leaving enough of the handle to fit the motor.
