Class Attention Signal(s) The class attention signals that I will use are:
1.   Silent count down
2.   Call and response

My Morning Routines
\

Entering the room The teacher will greet students at the door as they enter. Students will begin to sit on the rug and
get ready for the morning meeting by filling out a daily feeling check in sheet.
Morning Meetings In order to create a positive classroom environment, I want to incorporate morning meetings in my
classroom.
Greeting:  Students and teachers greet one other by name (entering classroom)
Sharing:  Students share information about important events in their lives. Listeners often offer
empathetic comments or ask clarifying questions.
Group Activity:  Everyone participates in a brief, lively activity that fosters group cohesion and
helps students practice social and academic skills (for example, reciting a poem, dancing, singing,
or playing a game).
Morning Message:  Students read and interact with a short message written by their teacher. The
message is crafted to help students focus on the work they’ll do in school that day.

Getting started on work We will then do a warmup exercise that will be on the board. Students will be expected to start
work promptly after concluding our morning meetings.
Arriving late Enter quietly without disrupting class, hand in tardy slip to the tardy bin, and join morning meeting
or begin morning warmup promptly.
Getting materials Students will have materials available at their tables. There will be markers, crayons, glue and
pencils available. This will minimize loss of instructional time.
My Routines for Managing Work
Getting assignments and turning in work Students will turn in assignments to designated turn-in folder. Folders will be
assigned by subject in order to organize assignments. Students will be given
accommodations based on needs and they will be given enough time to
complete their assignments. If a student chooses not to complete given
assignment, they will be held accountable for it and will complete it at another
time.
Managing independent work times When work is independent, students will understand that the expectation is that
they are working by themselves in a quiet manner. Privacy folders may be
used if necessary.
Managing cooperative work times When working cooperatively, students will be respectful and use kind words.
We will maintain an appropriate voice level for the given task. Positive
conversations are encouraged.
Getting assistance When students have a question, they will first ask their table mates because
chances are, they know the answer. Then, if no one is able to answer, the
students may then ask me.
Transitioning The expectations for transitions are that they are quick and efficient. Transitions
will be accompanied by a visual reminder of the time they are expected to
transition in (timer, countdown, etc.).

Ending instruction At the end of the day, students will be asked to make sure that their tables are
clean. We do not want to leave extra work for our custodians. We also need to
have pride in our classroom appearance meaning that we leave it looking clean
and tidy.
Organizing and gathering materials When students are done cleaning, we will gather on the rug. Getting backpacks is
the last task of the day. Students will get backpacks at dismissal time as they are
leaving the classroom.
Giving feedback Students will receive weekly folders with graded work and feedback on them. This
will be once every week and parents are to sign and return the folder.
Dismissal Once students have settled down on the rug, they will be dismissed by row or
tables. They will take their belongings from the classroom (binder, pencils) and grab
their backpacks on their way out.
