LESSON PLAN 4reflection

The lesson was about teaching grade 4 students how to round fractions. The teacher modeled the process in three steps: drawing the fraction, finding half of the denominator, and rounding to the nearest number on a number line. To help students understand, the teacher connected the math lesson to food by having students round fractions of biscuits. Students then completed two activities, with the second being more difficult as it required applying the three rounding steps. The teacher realized they need to scaffold the second activity more by providing the steps for students to follow.

Math lesson reflection 4

The lesson was about identifying how to Round Fractions. This lesson
was for grade 4studnts. The lesson takes place in the grade 4 math
classroom. My goal was working on my modeling. I what I did to
achieve my goal I shortened the lesson in three steps, first I interduce
the lesson and the main words for example what is rounding. Then I
explain the lesson in three steps, Frist step: draw the fraction, for
example, if we have 3/6 we will draw six equal parts and color the
numerator. Second step: find half of the denominator, what is half of
6 (3). Third step: draw the number line in the bottom and circle the
number, the teacher will ask the students 3 is nearest to 0 or half,
students will say half and will but the circle on it. Then to be easier I
connected which food what the students like more. Will bring the
biscuits there were 7 biscuits in the box, and write the number line in
the bottom, then ask the students if the fraction is 6/7 where should I
round it to 0 or, 1/2 or 1. I ask random students. What I note when I
connected the lesson with food the understand more and Interact with
me. Then students move to activity. There was two activity and two
groups will do the same activity. The first activity was three steps
what they did in the modeling first draw the fractions then round it on
the number line. The second activity was a fraction and number line
students have to glue the fractions in the number line. I found that
activity 2 was Difficult for students to do it because they need to do
the three steps to round the fractions so I give them extra paper to do
the three steps then glue it on the number line .in this way they were
able to complete the activate. In the formative assessment, I check
students understanding and see if they understand, or the topic need
reteach. I fund the same students did not writ three steps so next time
I have to write in the paper step 1, step 2 so this will more easily for
them to do it. In the future when I teach this lesson, I will change
activity two and make it understandable so first I will give them the
paper with three steps in the model the fraction on it then in the
number line.
