The word courage comes from coeur, the French for ‘heart’. The essence of courage is being willing
to feel our heart, to be present to the moment and to be open to the other, even when things are
difficult or painful.
But it is not enough to be open. We must also be willing to extend ourselves, to face up squarely to
experience and let it affect us, to wake up and confront What is actually happening, rather than
just go along with old stories. This is true courage.

Opening our eyes may take a lifetime. Seeing, however, happens in a flash of lightning. Be Vigilant.
