Reaction Letter About Jose Rizal The Movie
The movie talks about the life and some works of our national hero of the Philippines, Jose
Rizal. From his childhood up to his death or execution was showed in the movie. This movie showed
us that Rizal is an intelligent man, a writer, a doctor, a loving son, brother and a lover. This movie
also showed us about the colonization of the Spanish to the Philippines, the nationalism and the
heroism of Rizal in a non-violent manner. After I watched the movie, my heart aches from the
people of our past. They suffered a lot from the Spanish colonists and Filipinos doesn’t have the
rights in their own country. They were needed to obey every law, every rule of the Spanish friars and
government, the colonizers abused them in different ways. Rizal sacrificed his self for the people of
the Philippines, through his novels he wants to expose the mistreatment of the colonizers in the
Philippines but the Spaniards prevented the plan of Rizal by exiled him in dapitan, shut him in the
Fort Santiago and lastly they executed Rizal. In the movie, Jose Rizal just wants peace and equal
freedom from the Spanish colonists but the Spanish are trying to be blind and deaf about the
Filipinos who are crying for freedom. The books that are introduced in the movie namely; “Noli Me
Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo” tell us viewers how the Spanish colonial regime in the Philippines is
not giving an equal treatment to the Filipinos versus the Spanish people in the Philippines. The
freedom we experienced today is the result of Rizal’s bravery until his last breath with Philippines
independence in his mind. Through this movie, I learned something about the past and the
importance to our situation today, we may not be under colonized today but some Filipinos are
being colonized their minds and forgetting who they really are and what the Filipinos capable are of.
Some people just know Rizal because he is our hero but they didn’t know the struggles of Rizal’s in
his entire life. I was really inspired in the movie, how Rizal’s kept in his mind that we can fight
through pen and not using any violent equipment to reach victory. Rizal said “All I desire for my
country is liberty, the only way to realize it is not through a revolution but through education” how
he showed us that the education is really important to the lives of everyone. The education is the
only inheritance that we can give for ourselves that no one can steal it away from us.
