Adaptive Configuration of Logical Channels (ACLC) : Slide

The document discusses Adaptive Configuration of Logical Channels (ACLC), which dynamically adapts the number of signaling channels (SDCCH/8) to match signaling load. It aims to prevent SDCCH congestion, increase network capacity, and reduce critical SDCCH dimensioning. ACLC will add or remove SDCCH/8 channels depending on congestion levels, using parameters like SLEVEL and STIME to determine when to reconfigure traffic channels to SDCCH/8 or vice versa. It also discusses how SDCCH/8 channels are placed in timeslots and channel groups according to the CCHPOS and TN parameters.

Adaptive Configuration of Logical Channels

(ACLC)
ACLC will dynamically dimension more (or less)
SDCCH/8 s on demand ⇒

– prevention of SDCCH congestion

– higher network capacity (& revenues)
– less critical SDCCH dimensioning
– increase (slightly) of intra-cell handover rate

Parameters

Main Controlling Parameters

SLEVEL defines the level of remaining subchannels when

an attempt to reconfigure a TCH to an SDCCH/8 will take
place.

STIME defines the minimum time interval before an

SDCCH/8 added by the Adaptive configuration of logical
channels feature can be reconfigured back to a TCH.

Additional Parameters
Parameters
CCHPOS defines if an SDCCH/8 to be added in channel
group zero shall be placed on the BCCH frequency or
according to parameter TN. The following values of
parameter CCHPOS exist:

BCCH All SDCCH/8s in channel group zero will

be placed on the BCCH frequency. This
alternative is not valid for channel
groups other than zero.

TN All SDCCH/8s in channel group zero will

be placed on the timeslot number
entered with parameter TN.

TN defines the timeslot number on which the SDCCH/8

will be placed. This parameter does not have any effect
for channel group 0 having CCHPOS = BCCH
