ABSTRACT
An abstract is a greatly condensed version of a longer piece of writing that highlights the
major points covered, and concisely describes the content and scope of the writing. Abstracts
give readers a chance to quickly see what the main contents and sometimes methods of a
piece of writing are. They enable readers to decide whether the work is of interest for them.

Keywords: (Write at least 5 keywords related to your work which can enable a reader to do a
quick web search)

Abstract Word Limit: 250~500 words

General Guidelines

 Three copies of the report are required: one will be retained by the supervisor, one
placed in the Faculty library, and the third in the Institute library.
 Chapter 1 should be very straight forward with minimum jargon. It should be simple
enough so that reader belonging to different fields can understand this chapter.
 The Headings and the subheadings defined in the main body structure should be
followed strictly.
 Exceptions are allowed for chapter 3 and 4, depending upon the nature of the project,
with approval of the supervisor.
 Chapter 3 and 4 should be detailed enough to enable the reader to repeat/reproduce
the work done in the project.
 All the units used in the report must be in SI unit system.
 Note that “cut and paste” is not allowed and will be considered plagiarism.
 All text taken from references should be in your own word and properly cited.
 Before final presentation: Word processed but not bound.
 After final presentation: Final copy, after making corrections and modifications, to be
deposited with payment for three official copies and binding. Electronic copy of
report and computer-program/software files also to be submitted on CD/DVD.

Formatting Guidelines

 Report must be word processed.

 Pages should be numbered consecutively, at top right of page (header).
 Page numbering should start from first chapter.
 Font : Times New Roman
 Main body font size : 12pt
 Heading : 14pt, bold
 Subheading : 12pt, bold
 Subsubheading : 12pt
 Chapter title : 16pt, bold, all upper case
 Line spacing : 1.2
 Margins : Left margin 1.25” (for binding) and top, bottom & right margins of 1”
 Equations must be typed, not copy and pasted.
 For equations, tables and figures, use the method illustrated in the example.
 For equations, use MathType equation editor.
 Equations, tables and figures should be numbered in such a manner that the first digit
represents the chapter and the second number shows the number count in current
chapter, e.g. Figure 2-3 represents the third figure in chapter 2.
