Assignment -I
Subject: Basic Electrical and Electronics Code: GNEG-143

Note: Attempt all the questions

1. For the circuit shown below Fig. (1), determine the values of VL, IL, IZ with RL = 200Ω
and RL = 50Ω. Comment on the operation of the circuit, where Vin = 20 V, RS = 220Ω,
VZ = 10 V, PZmax = 400 mW.

2. Draw the circuit diagram of bridge-type full wave rectifier and explain its operation with
neat input and output waveforms.
3. What do you understand by d. c. and a. c. resistance of a crystal diode? How will you
determine them from V-I characteristics of a crystal diode.
4. Determine the current I in the Fig. (2) . Assume Si diodes and forward resistance of
diodes to be zero.

(c) Forward Current
(d) Reverse Current
(e) Maximum Forward Current
(f) PIV
(g) Maximum Power rating
(h) Static and dynamic forward resistances
(i) Reverse Resistances.
