In SignallingInAP CAP Operation List

The document describes the configuration parameters for routing mobile subscriber queries from a GMSC to an HLR using the GRI (Gateway Roaming Interrogation) protocol. Key parameters include RSV to define the MAP version and supported supplementary services, MIS1-3 to define number analysis and charging origins, and routing tables to define SCCP and GT routing for queries to the HLR. MSRN numbers are routed to the HLR using routing case 60 and device type GRI to perform international roaming interrogation.

RSV Register Signaling diagram Variant. This parameter indicates which of the optional Ericsson specified
supplementary services are valid for the interrogation route to the HLR that is, which services are supported for
the connection between GMSC server and the relevant HLR when Ericsson MAP variant is used for the
interrogation.

This parameter also defines the MAP version that should be used, if the calling party number and category should
be sent to the HLR when Ericsson MAP variant is used for the interrogation, and whether the sending of the
extension area using standard MAP version 2, or the extension container using standard MAP V3 is supported in
the route.

The value of the parameter can be calculated from the formula :

RSV = b7*128 + b6*64 + b5*32 + b4*16 + b3*8 + b2*4 + b1*2 + b0
RSV (48) = 0*128 + 0*64 + 1*32 + 1*16 + 0*8 + 0*4 + 0*2 + 0
b5 = 1
b4 = 1

Parameter Values of Parameter RSV

Parameter Value Description
b0 0 Originating IN supplementary service is not valid for the interrogation route when Ericsson MAP
variant is used
b1 0 Terminating IN supplementary service is not valid for the interrogation route when Ericsson MAP
variant is used
b2 0 Single personal number supplementary service is not valid for the interrogation route when Ericsson
MAP variant is used
b3 0 Immediate call itemization supplementary service is not valid for the interrogation route when
Ericsson MAP variant is used
b4 b5 00 MAP version undefined
The used MAP version is specified by AXE parameter GSM1APTC:MAPVERHLRG.
10 MAP version 1 will be used
01 MAP version 2 will be used
11 MAP version 3 will be used
b6 0 Calling party category and if available calling party number are not sent to the HLR in the operation
"Send Routing Information" when Ericsson MAP variant is used
b7 0 Sending of the extension area of standard MAP version 2 or the extension container of standard MAP
version 3 to the HLR depends on the value of the application parameter EXTAREATREATMENT

Parameters RSV b0 , b1 , b2 , b3 , and b6 are relevant only when the Ericsson MAP variant is used for the
interrogation route. An HLR handling the Ericsson specified supplementary services using Ericsson MAP variant
is not provided with functionality based on calling party number and category. Setting of RSV b6 to 1 will be
therefore prohibited if any supplementary services, RSV b0 , b1 , b2 , or b3, are set for the same route.

RSV b7 is relevant only when standard MAP version 2 or standard MAP version 3 is to be used for the
interrogation route. RSV b7 must be set to 1 if the MAP version to be used is MAP version 1, or if the
interrogation route supports any service using Ericsson MAP variant ( RSV b0 , b1 , b2 , b3 , or b6 is set for the
same route).

MIS1 Miscellaneous value 1. This is the new origin for B-number analysis. This parameter is used when analyzing the
forwarded-to number if b2 = 1 in parameter MIS3.
MIS2 Miscellaneous value 2. This is the new origin for charging analysis. This parameter is used when defining charging
analysis for the "forwarded-to-leg". This "forwarded-to-leg" is a result of the analysis of the forwarded-to number
and is used if b3 = 1 in parameter MIS3.

MIS3 Miscellaneous value 3. This parameter indicates whether or not the parameters BO, CO, MIS1, MIS2 and MIS5
are valid.

The value of the parameter can be calculated from the formula:

MIS3 = b4*16 + b3*8 + b2*4 + b1*2 + b0
MIS3 (15) = 0*16 + 1*8 + 1*4 + 1*2 + 1
b3 = 1
b2 = 1
b1 = 1
b0 = 1

Table 1 Parameter Values of Parameter MIS3

b1 0 No change of the origin for the charging analysis when analyzing MSRN
1 New origin for the charging analysis when analyzing MSRN
The new charging origin is specified in parameter CO. The default value is 0.
b2 0 No change of origin for B-number analysis when analyzing forwarded-to number
1 New origin for B-number analysis when analyzing forwarded-to number
The new B-origin is specified in parameter MIS1. The default value is 0.
b3 0 No change of origin for charging analysis when analyzing forwarded-to number
1 New origin for charging analysis when analyzing forwarded-to number
The new charging origin is specified in parameter MIS2. The default value is 0.
b4 0 Translation Type is not defined. The used Translation Type value is specified by the AXE parameter
TTSETTING.
1 Translation type value is defined.
The used Translation Type is specified in parameter MIS5. The default value is 0.

TTSETTING
The AXE parameter determines the translation type value of the called party address which is used for the "Send
Routing Information" operation in the GMSC.

The value 0 indicates that the translation type value is 0.

The value 1 indicates that the translation type value is 128 (used for call related MNP signaling).

BO New origin for B-number analysis. This parameter is used when analyzing Mobile Station Roaming Number
(MSRN) if b0 = 1 in parameter MIS3. The MSRN and the forwarded-to number are sent to the B-number
analysis with the specified BO and according to the E.164 ISDN numbering plan. In the case of an MSRN, the
type of number is either national significant or international. In the case of a forwarded-to number, the type of
number is national significant, international, or unknown.

CO New origin for charging analysis. This parameter is used when defining charging analysis for "roaming-
forwarding-leg" if b1 = 1 in parameter MIS3. The "roaming-forwarding-leg" is a result of MSRN analysis.
BO=31 filters out the MSRNs and sends the rest to BO=4, where the number series are modified and sent for GRI query.

The GMSC sends the SRI MAP message to HLR. For this the SCCP routing is done in GTRC table 200 in the GMSC.

In Ericsson GMSC/MSC, MSRN routing is implemented as follows. The normal routing case directing to HLR
is 60 with device type (DETY) as GRI. GRI is Gateway Roaming Interrogation. The interrogation should be
performed with international format of the called number. The incoming origin for the reply from HLR is
always BO=8 with the same international format. If the MSRN belongs to the same MSC/VLR then it will
direct to BO=9 to change it to national format. In BO=9, the analysis ends as MTE (Mobile Terminating
Environment) that indicates, the MSC is terminating MSC.

1. Even though the subscriber is in the serving area of the GMSC/MSC that initiates the interrogation, the
analysis should compulsorily involve HLR.
2. In case of congestion in the MSRN, it would result in Not reachable for the subscribers who were not
allotted with MSRN.
3. The time supervision between the allocation of a MSRN and release of MSRN is very important and it
should be kept optimum.
4. In Ericsson MSCs, block MRNR holds responsible for MSRN.
5. After MTE analysis, the MSC will page the mobile number with the location data available in VLR using
the MSRN.
6. If MSRN is used for Inter-MSC handover, it is termed as HON (Handover Number series).
7. After the call is connected, the MSRN is released and used for terminating another call.
8. The exchange parameters for MSRN in Ericsson MSC are :
MSRNHNDLIMIT-0 OPTIONAL
MSRNHNDTIME-30 OPTIONAL
MSRNHOMETHOD-0 OPTIONAL
MSRNTCNTIME-30 OPTIONAL
9. Other command in Ericsson for MSRN are :
MGRNP:MSRNS=ALL; ! To print the allotted series !
MGRSP:MSRN=ALL; ! To print the current status of individual MSRNs !
