CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
RATIONALE
Naga National High School is the most numbered students in the
whole division of Naga comprising of over 5000 students. The population
of the school contributes to the hindrances when supervising a school
event or program such as SSG election, PTA election and club election.
Over the years, the school relies on manual counting when conducting
the election which makes the hassle and increase the cost of materials
needed (e.g papers, ink, pens & time). Tabulating the results considering
the 5000 students is somehow frustrating.
Nowadays, the use of online websites is increasing in number due
to the constantly evolving technology. Universities, Science High Schools,
and private schools make use of publishing information to their online
website for the sake of the guests, students and faculty. It is accessible
for the majority since a lot of people owned mobile phones & computers
which direct them to random websites. The advantage of publishing
websites shows significance to the inquirer whose hometown is kilometer
away from the school.
In relevant to this, the researchers will address this problem by
developing an online website for Naga National High school with its
underlying special feature such as the integration of online voting system
for the annual ssg election.
Eversince, there is no existing website for this school which indeed
need one because of its population that might led to unsatisfied
accomodation for the inquirer and students. One of the cases wherein
circumstances are evident is during enrollment and after graduation.
When it comes to enrollment, especially for the freshmen and
transferees, there are certain requirements to be submitted. Students
travel from their houses just to inquire which seems to be very hassle for
their side. And in connection to the special feature, it is somehow
frustrating for the committee's part to manually count the votes, thus,
developing an online voting system will lessen the hassle and reduce the
expenses in paper materials. Likewise, it will reduce the bias of the
election since it will be programmed and they can always update in the
up-to-date counting of votes in the proposed website.
Statement of the Problem
Building a website within a district or in a school is a great
advantage among users. In relevant to that, the researchers intend to
answer the following question after the testing of the website utility and
usability:
1. Is the page responsive when the user logged in to different
gadgets?
2. Does the site load quickly – even (especially) for mobile users?
3. Does the publisher provide the necessary information that every
individuals in the school seeks for?
4. What are the attributes that users find out after they visited the
site?
5. How many percent among the users who have visited the site
shows a satisfactory reaction?
Significance of the Study
Internet has become one of the largest platforms of
communication. It is the most effective technology available today.
Building a website for school can prove to be extremely beneficial if it is
done in the right way. It maybe time consuming and include a lot of
effort to be put in for developing a website for the school, but it is very
advantageous for the school community. The school website gives the
school's information and also clear idea about what they are good at.
School websites will provide the up to dates, as well as help them to link
between schools, their communities and also to the entire world.
It is easy to neglect your school website, but this would be a big
mistake. Your website can accomplish so much for your school, your
staff and your whole community. A website needs to not only look good
and provide the basic information – it should also become an interactive
hub for the community. School website is very important for making a
good first impression as it often is the first contact that people have with
the school. Therefore, the school website affects the overall image and
reputation of your school which can lead to increased admissions.
Having a good school website is also very important for delivering a good
user experience for its regular users, including teachers, students and
parents.
A school website is the virtual place where the members of the
school community meet. Today, almost every school/ university has its
own website where the school administrators post important information
about the school and its activities.
In relevant to this, the researchers will address this problem by
developing an online website for Naga National High school with its
underlying special feature such as the integration of online voting system
for the annual ssg election. This school website can serve as an online
school database. The school can upload a bunch of information about
the school into the website. This can serve as an online filing cabinet
which is more efficient compared to our traditional filing system. With
the search button in your website, your reader can readily access the
data uploaded in your website, a venue for implementing a feedback
mechanism. Because it is very convenient to use the Internet, visitors
could easily post feedback on school services and other related issues
which they would not bother with telephones and letters. With the
interactive feature of your website, you can readily respond to the queries
and issues, avenue for an interactive information exchange. With added
website features such as chat room, school websites facilitates immediate
response to queries about the school.
Many a times people tend to consider the school website to be a
substitute for all the face-to-face interactions. It is a very wrong notion
that they hold. The website should be perceived as an extra resource
benefit provided to the world by the schools.
Scope and Delimitation
This study focuses on the development of the official website of
Naga National High School and testing of its usability among students
and faculties of the school through a survey. This also caters the
significant information of the school as well as the dissemination of
important announcement to be done among massive students. However,
due to time constraint and financial capability, this study is limited to
specific features and widgets.
CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Word Press
WordPress is a free and open-source content management system
(CMS) based on PHP and MySQL.To function, WordPress has to be
installed on a web server, which would either be part of an Internet
hosting service or a network host in its own right. An example of the first
scenario may be a service like WordPress.com, for example, and the
second case could be a computer running the software package
WordPress.org. A local computer may be used for single-user testing and
learning purposes. Features include a plugin architecture and a template
system. It was released by May 27, 2003; 14 years ago and was stable
released 4.9.1 (November 29, 2017; 45 days ago). WordPress was used by
more than 29.3% of the top 10 million websites as of January 2018.
WordPress is reportedly the most popular website management or
blogging system in use on the Web, supporting more than 60 million
websites. WordPress has also been used for other application domains
such as pervasive display systems (PDS). Most people using WordPress
are neither web designers nor programmers. As a matter of fact most
folks start using WordPress without any prior knowledge of designing
websites. The reason why WordPress is such an ideal candidate is
because there are thousands of free templates (themes) to choose from,
so you can give your website any look you want. There is a WordPress
theme for just about everything. Whether you want a photography
theme, magazine theme, portfolio theme, or an eCommerce theme. There
is a perfect theme available for every kind of website. WordPress themes
are easy to customize because a lot of them come with their own options
panel allowing you to change colors, upload logo, change background,
create beautiful sliders, and do other cool things with your website
without ever writing any code at all. WordPress is super flexible and can
be extended by using plugins. Just like themes, there are thousands of
free and premium plugins available for you to use.

on at least one web server. Websites are also available and accessible 24
hours a day, every day of the year. Because of this, your customers and
potential customers can visit your site for support or information about
new and upcoming products and services whenever it is convenient for
them. Having a website and online presence strategy allows you to
market your business online. There are lots of marketing strategies you
can use to advertise and market your business. All online marketing
strategies have been proven to be effective. Which ones you choose
depends on the type of business you are in. A website is also important
because it helps you establish credibility as a business. By building a
website, you are giving your business the opportunity to tell consumers
why they should trust you and the testimonials and facts to back up
those opportunities. Believe it or not, most people will search the internet
for a product or service before the purchase to check the credibility first.
When you provide good service or product, positive word-of- mouth about
your business is likely to spread. Which in turn, delivers more repeat
and new business.
School website is very important for making a good first impression

networking sites, forums and through pay-per- click advertising
programs. School websites leading Cebu blogs since 2009 providing
information for students study and wellbeing has parted ways in
University of Cebu , Cebu Eastern College, Cebu International School,
Cebu Technology University, Cebu Institute of Technology, University of
San Carlos , University of the Visayas, University of San Jose Recoletos
and such more.
School Election
Voting at school is a unique civic learning experience which
teachers and faculties can build upon in the classroom to help young
people become educated, engaged citizens. According to Subramanian
(2012), Ranking content is arguably one of the Web's most important
problems. As users are the ultimate consumers of content, incorporating
their opinions in the form of either explicit or implicit votes becomes an
essential ingredient in many ranking systems. According to Cutts (2005),
reports on the use of an electronic voting system (EVS) in a first-year
computing science subject. Previous investigations suggest that students'
use of an EVS would be positively associated with their learning
outcomes. It is also a strategy to avoid bias.
Related Studies
According to Lopez (2005), a Registration system helps and
provides efficient and reliable services to the students, enrollment
personnel and administration. Moreover, this system improved the
process of enrollment in terms of searching, retrieving and subject
schedules. While in a study conducted by Cayabyab (2007), many
problems and difficulties were identified in the existing system of
Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS). These major concerns are
affecting the efficient enrollment system of students. Security of the
students records were found to be at high risk. The current system may
fail to protect some important documents. It has also untimely and
inefficient report generation. A computerized system for DCNHS shall
result to a significant increase in the number of enrollees Network-Based
Enrollment system Conde (2007) in his study entitled “Network-bases
Enrollment System of Paete National High School cited that the manual
process of enrollment and manual handling of information and reports of
the students is very laborious one. The proponents developed a network
based system enrollment system to the said school to solve the huge
amount of task.
According to Maxwell (2012), in his study entitled “School
MARKETING as a Sorting Mechanism”, Information system are designed
and implement within an organization to support adequate action such
that value addition may be achieved. Another, all medium to large
organizations depend on information technology for their continued
survival. School websites are providing education settings with the
opportunity to transform and enhance the schooling experience.
However, the perceived importance of school websites and the resources
invested in developing and maintaining them varies considerably across
settings. There is a need to better understand what constitutes an
effective website that provides a school with an avenue for delivering
innovation in teaching and learning, and complements how a school
operates. This study reviewed school websites, specifically how 30 south
Australian schools used their website as a teaching learning portal, to
support administrative operations and as a MARKETING platform. Three
key questions framed the research. First, what variables should be
examined to establish how schools are using their website. Second, what
constitutes an engaging and useful school website, and finally what
development framework can be devised to assist schools to map their
website's strengths and areas requiring further development. The
evaluation criteria addressed website design, purpose, content and
technology integration. Indicators of progressive and emergent school
websites were identified through a deductive content analysis of the
websites, which informed a proposed website development framework.
The framework and suggested recommendations promote a holistic
approach when developing a website to accurately portray a school's
identity and effectively address stakeholders' needs.
While in a study conducted by Morenly (2012), An emerging body
of research has explored "supply side" questions of school choice, or how
schools and systems shape enrollment through locational decisions,
recruitment, and marketing. This study focuses on how school websites
market and communicate the distinct missions of charter schools to
prospective families. Through a critical discourse analysis (CDA) of 55
elementary charter school websites in one demographically diverse
metropolitan area, we explore how school websites operate as discursive
texts that signal the potential "fit" between particular schools and
particular families. Guided by a critical discourse analysis framework, we
emphasize how websites (a) employ implicit discourses of race, culture,
and diversity; (b) draw on different meanings of academic achievement,
and (c) emphasize different ideologies of individualized learning. We
argue that websites act as one mechanism that contributes to the
segmentation and differentiation of an emerging local marketplace of
school options.

CHAPTER III
METHODOLOGY
A. Gathering of Data
The researchers gathered the necessary information such as the
school’s information, images of the school’s feature and other
information necessary to fill up the website content. The researchers
accumulate the data from trusted personnel-Guidance Counselor and
other faculties.
B. Designing of Website
The researchers will make use of the available technology present in
the internet such as Word Press. The researchers will purchase a
personal account to avail the widgets that they want to include in the
website. There are lots of free available templates once it has been
upgraded to a personal account.
C. Publishing of Website
After the information has been inputted in the site, the researchers
will start polishing the official website from its typography, structure,
graphics and content. Consequently, the researchers will publish the
website for trial.
D. Trial
After the researchers published the website, they will conduct
information dissemination to the students and faculties of Naga National
High School to test its utility, compatibility and so on. The researchers
will select 100 samples from the population of Naga National High School
to undergo a survey right after they visited the site. Aside from the
survey, the researchers will also make use of the statistics of viewers of
the site tallied by word press.
Definition of Terms
Compatibility is the state of being compatible; in which two or more
things are able to exist or work together in combination without
problems or conflict.
Internet is a global computer network providing a variety of information
and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks
using standardized communication protocols.
Responsive Website is an approach to web design which
makes web pages render well on a variety of devices and window or
screen sizes
Utility is the state of being useful, profitable, or beneficial.
Website is a location connected to the Internet that maintains one or
more pages on the World Wide Web.
Widgets are an essential aspect of home screen customization.
