First time Installing RTS 3.0.

3 using the “exe” file:

• Extract the “RTS 3.0.3.exe” file on your desktop

• For HEC-RAS

• The RTS 3.0.3 install comes with a full installation of HEC-RAS 5.0.3. Note - Once RAS
5.0.3 is installed, you do not need to install it again unless it has been updated.

• Double-click on the “HEC-RAS_503_Setup.exe” file located under the RTS 3.0.3\HEC-

RAS\5.0.3 folder and follow the installation wizard to install HEC-RAS 5.0.3.

• To run RTS, click on the “HEC-RTS.exe” file under the “RTS 3.0.3/HEC-RTS” folder.

• Because this is the first time running RTS 3.0.3, the plugin applications will display Terms and
Conditions dialogs as their servers start up. You will need to accept them as they display. You
will also see multiple Windows Security Alert dialogs stating that Window’s Firewall has blocked
some features of a program. The Program name will be 'Java Platform SE binary' and the Path
will be under the RTS 3.0.3 install folder. These Window’s Security Alerts are generated
because RTS runs some of its plug-ins as separate processes and needs to communicate with
them. Click on the Allow access button at the bottom of these messages as they pop up.
Replacing a previous version of a HEC-RTS
• Delete the old “RTS <version_number>.exe” install folder from your desktop.

• Extract the new “RTS <version_number>.exe” to your desktop

• For RAS

• You only need to run the RAS Install if it has been updated from the last version
installed.

• If RAS 5.0 has been updated*

Double-click on the “HEC-RAS_503_Setup.exe” file located under the RTS

<version_number>\HEC-RAS\5.0.3 folder and follow the installation wizard to install
HEC-RAS 5.0.3.

*How do you know if RAS has been updated?

Look at the directory you installed the previous version of HEC-RAS in. By default this
would be “C:\Program Files (x86)\HEC\HEC-RAS”. The date of the version installed will
be in the folder name for the program, as pictured below:
