Discuss The Strategic Value-Adding Role Operations Plays in The Supply Chain

Operations play a strategic value-adding role in the supply chain by creating more value at each stage and exceeding customer expectations. The transformation process takes raw materials and increases their value through production to create outputs for customers. This process is important for goods and services but also presents challenges and tradeoffs for production managers regarding sustainability, communication, and competition within and between organizations. Information technology now supports more efficient production by enabling faster information flow between organizations and functions, improving customer service, increasing productivity, and better tracking of goods and services.

1.

Discuss the strategic value-adding role operations plays in the supply

chain.

Value adding means creating more content to add a value and exceeding the

customer’s expectation from a product. They add value to a certain product before

they offer to the customers. Most of the companies use this strategy to attract more

customers and helps the company’s revenue to increase. From adding value to the

products and production, to the flow of goods, storage of raw materials, work in-

process inventory up to finished goods. In this way, without adding qualities to the

items, supply chain won't confront its job in tasks

2. Explain the concept of transformation process and its application to

goods and services.

In transformation process, you take at least one or more information sources where

inputs are raw materials, increase the value of them and make yields for

customers. Transformation process also means change from the present

circumstance to the accomplishment of the goods and services. Its application to

goods and services plays an important role because transformation process talks

about on how you make your inputs into outputs. This is the place you may

experience criticisms or feedbacks and inputs are imperative since this enables a
business to make changes to the procedure or the products and enterprises itself.

This is to make enhancements for the items as well.

3. What are the tradeoffs and challenges involved in productions

operations?

Task supervisors face competition from the organization all over the road, just as,

from the nation all over the world. These are the challenges involved in

productions operations, one of which is the sustainability, assessing whether a

business can keep up existing practices without putting future assets in danger.

Managers must worry about the results of every one of the columns including how

their work influences wellbeing, welfare, networks, nature and monetary

supportability. Communication is also one of the challenges, managers should

keep the communication effective with all internal and external stakeholders.

4. How information technology supports efficient production of goods and

services.

Information technology is the utilization of advances from figuring, gadgets, and

media communications to process and circulate data in computerized and different

structures. It is also the examination, structure, creation, usage, backing, and the

executives of PC based on data frameworks, particularly programming

applications and PC equipment. Information technology is more than just

computers, it supports efficient production of goods and services. In way back

80’s the information flow between functional areas and organizations were paper

based and the transaction was slow. In the present time, Information Technology

supports efficient production of goods and services because the communication

between suppliers and buyers were faster, it will also improve customer service,

quick process to information, increase productivity and a better tracing and

expediting of goods and services.
