O-3 A reading from the book of Ecclesiastes 11, 7-10 Poem on Youth and Old Age.
Light is sweet!
and it is pleasant for the eyes to see the sun.
However many years mortals may live,
let them, as they enjoy them all,
remember that the days of darkness will be many.
All that is to come is vanity.
Rejoice, O youth, while you are young
and let your heart be glad in the days of your youth.
Follow the ways of your heart, the vision of your eyes;
Yet understand regarding all this that God will bring you to judgment.
Banish misery from your heart and remove pain from your body,
for youth and black hair are fleeting.
The Word of the Lord

1
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth,
before the evil days come
And the years approach of which you will say,
“I have no pleasure in them”;
2
Before the sun is darkened and the light and the moon and the stars
and the clouds return after the rain.
8
Vanity of vanities, all things are vanity!
13
The last word, when all is heard:
Fear God and keep his commandments, for this concerns all humankind;
14
because God will bring to judgment every work,
with all its hidden qualities, whether good or bad.

ilusión. El Qohelet, además de ser un sabio, enseñó al pueblo lo que él sabía. Estudió, inventó y formuló muchos proverbios;

O-5 From the Book of the Prophet Jeremiah 1, 4-8 (Call of Jeremiah)
The word of the Lord came to me:
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I dedicated you,
a prophet to the nations I appointed you.
“Ah, Lord God!” I said,
“I do not know how to speak. I am too young!”
But the Lord answered me, do not say, “I am too young.”
To whomever I send you, you shall go;
whatever I command you, you shall speak.
O-6 From the Book of the Prophet Isaiah 7:14-16 – God is With Us
14
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign;
the young woman, pregnant and about to bear a son,
shall name him Emmanuel.
15
Curds and honey he will eat
so that he may learn to reject evil and choose good;

O-7 From the Book of the Prophet Isaiah 11, 2-4 The strength of the prophet
The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him:
a spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
a spirit of counsel and of strength,
a spirit of knowledge and of fear of the Lord,
and his delight shall be the fear of the Lord.
Not by appearance shall he judge,
nor by hearsay shall he decide,
but he shall judge the poor with justice,
and decide fairly for the land’s afflicted.

O- 9 A reading from the prophet Isaías 49, 1-6 The Servant of The Lord
Hear me, coastlands, listen, distant peoples.
Before birth the Lord called me,
from my mother’s womb he gave me my name.
He made my mouth like a sharp-edged sword,
concealed me, shielded by his hand.
He made me a sharpened arrow,
in his quiver he hid me.
He said to me, you are my servant,
in you, Israel, I show my glory.
Though I thought I had toiled in vain,
for nothing and for naught spent my strength,
Yet my right is with the Lord,
my recompense is with my God.
For now the Lord has spoken
who formed me as his servant from the womb,
That Jacob may be brought back to him
and Israel gathered to him;
I am honored in the sight of the Lord,
and my God is now my strength!
It is too little, he says, for you to be my servant,
to raise up the tribes of Jacob,
and restore the survivors of Israel;
I will make you a light to the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.

O-12 From the book of Judith 13, 18-20 Blessed are you, daughter
“Blessed are you, daughter, by the Most High God,
above all the women on earth;
and blessed be the Lord God,
the creator of heaven and earth.
… Your deed of hope will never be forgotten
by those who recall the might of God.
May God make this redound to your everlasting honor,
rewarding you with blessings,
because you risked your life
when our people were being oppressed,
and you averted our disaster,
walking in the straight path before our God.”

Send forth your light and your fidelity; they shall lead me on
And bring me to your holy mountain, to your dwelling-place.
R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.
Then will I go in to the altar of God, the God of my gladness and joy;
Then will I give you thanks upon the harp, O God, my God!
R. Athirst is my soul for the living God.

Se para mí un refugio,
ciudad fortificada en que me salves.
Y pues eres mi auxilio y mi defensa,
líbrame, Señor, de los malvados.
R. En ti, Señor, he puesto mi esperanza.
III
11
You have given me the strength of a wild ox;
you have poured rich oil upon me.
12
My eyes look with glee on my wicked enemies;
my ears shall hear what happens to my wicked foes.
13
The just shall flourish like the palm tree,
shall grow like a cedar of Lebanon.
14
Planted in the house of the Lord,
they shall flourish in the courts of our God.
15
They shall bear fruit even in old age, they will stay fresh and green,
16
To proclaim: “The Lord is just; my rock, in whom there is no wrong.”

P-10 Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 98: 1. 2-3ab. 3cd-4 - Sing to he Lord a new song
Sing to he Lord a new song,
for he has done wondrous deeds;
His right hand has won victory for him, his holy arm.
R/. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous deeds
The Lord has made his salvation known:
In the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice.
He has remembered his kindness
and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel.
R/. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous deeds.
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation by our God.
Sing joyfully to the Lord, all you lands; Break into song; sing praise.
R/. Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous deeds.

[Psalm 97] The hymn begins with God appearing in a storm, a traditional picture of some ancient Near Eastern gods (Ps 97:1–6); cf. Ps 18:8–16; Mi
1:3–4; Heb 3:3–15. Israel rejoices in the overthrowing of idol worshipers and their gods (Ps 97:7–9) and the rewarding of the faithful righteous (Ps
97:10–12). [97:7] All gods: divine beings thoroughly subordinate to Israel’s God. The Greek translates “angels,” an interpretation adopted by Heb 1:6.

Pues nadie puede cambiar la base;

Blessed be
the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ
with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,
as he chose us in him,
before the foundation of the world,
to be holy and without blemish before him.

In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin
betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said, “Hail, favored one!
The Lord is with you.” But she was greatly troubled
at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting
this might be.
Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David
his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
But Mary said to the angel, “How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?”
And the angel said to her in reply, “The Holy Spirit
will come upon you, and the power of the Most High
will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.

G-3 Del Santo Evangelio Según San Lucas 1: 46-56 The Song of Mary
mi espíritu festeja a Dios mi salvador,
prometida a nuestros antepasados,

G-13 John 16, 20-22 no one will take your joy away from you.
Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn,
while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.
When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish
because her hour has arrived; but when she has given birth to a child,
she no longer remembers the pain
because of her joy that a child has been born into the world.
So you also are now in anguish. But I will see you again,
and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
On that day you will not question me about anything.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.
Until now you have not asked anything in my name;
ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.
