NON TRADITIONAL MACHINING LABORATORY

1) CNC Wire Cut EDM:

The ELEKTRA Wire cut electric discharge machine comprises of Machine Tool, a power
supply Unit, and a Dielectric unit and a chiller unit. The machine tool unit comprise of a main
workable (called X-Y table) on which the work piece (U-V table) is clamped an auxiliary
table and wire drive mechanism. This is a process of repetitive sparking cycles.

 Prototype production and machining of
complex profile
 Coinage die making
 Metal disintegration machining

2) Electric discharge machine:

 Wide range
 Programmable Z axis
 Built- in 3 axis DRO.
 Integral Design and Compact Footprint.
 Turcite coated slides driven by ball screw.
 Double Door, Large Work Tank.
 Hand-Held, Full Function Remote Control (Optional)
 Safe and Stable, no arc - machining.

 Numerical Controlled X,Y ,Z lock function
 Self Diagnostic trouble shooting

Application:
 Prototype production
 Coinage die making
 Metal disintegration machining
 Mould making
2. CNC, AUTOMATION AND ROBOTICS LABORATORY

1) Five axis robot:

The SCORBOT-ER 4u was designed and developed to

emulate an industrial robot. The SCORBOT-ER 4u is a
vertical articulated robot, with five revolute joints. With
gripper attached, the robot has six degree of freedom. The
design permits the end effectors to be positioned and
oriented arbitrarily within a large work space.

Application:
 high-speed material handling
 palletizing

2) CNC Vertical milling :

COMPACT MILL 3 axis CNC milling machine

with Fanuc Control.
 Machine Operator Panel.
 Central Automatic Lubrication system.
 Flood coolant system.
 Automatic Tool Changer.
 Pneumatic Vice.
 Auto Door.
 Servo stabilizer.
 Double Ended Spanner.
 Oilcan with oil.
 63 mm Brush.

Application:
 Prototype production
 Small hole drilling
 Moulds and dies making
3. CONDITION MONITORING AND ERGONOMICS LABORATORY

1) Rockwell Hardness Testing Machines:

TH550 Rockwell hardness tester adopts Rockwell measurement

principle, it can measure the Rockwell hardness directly, and has
may favorable features, as simple operation, accurate numerical
display, and easy to maintain. It is very suitable for Rockwell
hardness measurement to carbide, carbon steel, alloy steel, cast
iron, non-ferrous metal and other materials. The design of this
machine complies with the Europe standard: BSEN10109-96
“Hardness test for metal material”.

2) Vickers’s Hardness Testing Machines:

 Vertically of Main shaft and Test Stand 0.2/100 mm

 Axiality of Elevation Feed Screw & Mainshaft Axis 0.3
mm
 Diamond cone indenter (Vickers)-JJG151

3) Direct Reading Ferro graph:

Direct Read Ferrography is a quantitative analysis of ferrous

particles present in used oil. It provides an index of large
ferrous >5μm particles to small ferrous <5μm particles.
Because it can identify the amount of ferrous wear occurring
within a unit, it is most helpful in illustrating developing
trends.

Application:
 monitor for wear modes
 Condition check of the Hydraulic oil
 To understand the pattern of wear and tear
takes place inside the rotary equipments
 To understand the cooperative study of IC engines
4. METAL FORMING AND METAL CASTING LABORATORY

1) Muffle Furnace:

Muffle furnaces are most often utilized in laboratories as a

compact means of creating extremely high temperature
atmospheres. They can be fine turned to hold very accurate
and stable temperatures with very little variance. They are
used to test the characteristics of materials at these
extremely high and accurate temperatures.

Application:
 engineering tests of soils and aggregates
 gravimetric analysis
 ignition tests

2) Hydraulic press:

The hydraulic press is one of the oldest of the basic machine tools. In its modern form, is well
adapted to presswork ranging from coining jewelry to forging aircraft parts. In most hydraulic
presses, full force is available throughout the stroke. The full force of a hydraulic press can be
delivered at any point in the stroke. This feature is a very important characteristic of most
hydraulic presses.

Application:

 Sealing Components
 Gaskets
 Bearings
 Electrical Components
 Printer Rollers
 Compaction Products
 Single Part Verification
 Small Part Production
 Test Specimens
 Blood Collection Components
 Orthopedic
 Seals/Gaskets
 Military Vehicles (Tires and Tracks)
 Brake and Other Various Components
 Airplane Wing and Body Panels
3) Pneumatic Hammer:

This pneumatic hammer is widely used for general Forging

works, such as drawing-out, upsetting, punching, chiseling, forge
welding, bending, and twisting. It is also used for forges in
bolster dies.
Application:
 Deforming materials
 Breaking various objects as well as rough surfaces.

5. METALLOGRAPHIC LABORATORY

1. Image Analyzer:

The Image Analyzer is scientific equipment for

the evaluation of 2D images (image analysis).
The possibilities of the program are varied and
can be divided in three main groups:

 Object surface calculation

 Object length calculation
 Object counting

6. CAD/CAM LABORATORY

The CAD/CAM laboratory aims to give

practice on designing, manufacturing and
analysis aspects to the upcoming young
engineers. The lab is well equipped with
sufficient computers, and latest software.
