Employee testing and selection Continuing Case: The carter
cleaning company: Honesty testing

1- What would be the advantages and disadvantages to Jennifer’s company of routinely


administering honest tests to all its employees?
Ans: These tests are time consuming and may cost more compared to other test. But this test helps
to identify interpersonal skills of employee.

2- Specifically, what other screening techniques could the company use to screen out theft-
prone employees? How exactly could these techniques be used?
Ans: Pre-screening tests, interviews, behavior checking etc. can be used to identify theft prone
employees. Integrity test, detailed interviews and questioning regarding references can help to find
such candidates. Employer must ask for academic references to judge the behavior and background
of employee.

3- How should her company terminate employees caught stealing and what kind of
procedure should be set up for handling reference calls about these employees when they
go to other companies looking for jobs?
Ans: If company caught employee stealing, then a proper investigation should be done by
company before terminating the employee. If employee found guilty of theft, company should take
a legal action against such employee, so that other companies may get careful before hiring theft
prone employees.
